9 Best LoL Icons To Show Off

Honor Icon

We start off our list with an Icon that is no longer available in League of Legends but was quite easily gained. And yet, only a few select old-school League of Legends players are in possession of it.

It's the Honor Icon, denoting the players that played League of Legends before the honor system overhaul with integrity and class. Especially since it took getting honored by enemies as much as allies.

The honor icon shows that not only are you an old player, but are one that once deserved recognition from your allies and enemies alike. And in the wake of LoL toxicity, this is one of the best LoL icons to differentiate yourself from the rest of the player base.

Ranked Icons

Whether it's a Challenger Icon, or one of the lower-ranked summoner icons, old ranked Icons definitely count towards prestige and showing off. After all it shows the journey an account took to get to the rank they are at now.

Especially when the Icons in question go all the way back to when the armors were far cooler than the minimalist design we have today! And, in the loading screen when playing the all too important ranked games, evidenced by the requirements to unlock ranked games, knowledgeable enemies will gain a healthy fear of the player's abilities.

Dominion Icon

One of the trends Riot are employing is removing old game modes that did not have a lot of popularity. And Dominion was the most unique of all as it was the only PvE game mode in League of Legends.

While few players played it, it gained a cult following that made the Dominion Icon quite valuable when it was shut down, to commemorate its existence. And, since it was only available to the players that achieved more than 100 wins on Dominion, it gained another level of depth to its rarity.

Perfect Ascension Icon

Speaking of the rarest Icons in League of Legends, especially ones gained in a temporary game mode, whose rotation is unlike the frequent URF return timing, we have the Perfect Ascension Icon. A game mode that has not been seen for a few years now, and will likely never return with Riot's policy on game modes.

The Perfect Ascension Icon was awarded to players that played a perfect game, more or less, which was no easy feat in a game mode that encouraged PvP to such an extent.

Hextech Hard Candy Icon

One of the ways to show off is by spending money on friends and family in League of Legends. And a League of Legends Icon that commemorated this, and encouraged it back in 2014 was the Hextech Hard Candy Icon.

It was created for the release of the Sugar Rush event and is a reward to players that gifted legacy skins during this event.

Great Mentor Icon

A difference between the old and new honor systems is found in the fact that you could honor both allies and enemies alike in the old honor system. And one of the ally honor options was for being a helpful player that no longer exists.

Those honorable existences who helped the Summoners who need to play the best champions for beginners to actually get anywhere due to their inexperience on the Rift enough times were awarded the Great Mentor Icon, to commemorate their efforts in reducing the learning curve of League of Legends.

Season Two Championship Icon

League of Legends eSports is the biggest eSport in the world, currently. But it was not always the case, and possessing the Season Two Championship Icon shows that the player in question is one of the day-one fans of this game's professional scene, who watched the best LoL esports players of that era.

It was released as an incentive to increase viewership of the League of Legends World Championship finals, as the redeem code was transmitted alongside the finals game broadcast.

Vintage Icon

Exclusive events before 2012 spawned things such as a Legacy Icon, or skin. However, Riot Games would later go on to re-add these to new events, lowering their rarity and upsetting the original fans who brought them when they had only just came out.

To make it up to said fans, Riot awarded them the Vintage Icon. And while it doesn't look like much at first glance, it symbolizes the faith early players had in the success of League of Legends and their investment in their accounts.

Grand Master Beta Tester Icon

Back when League of Legends looked like its predecessor, DotA, a Warcraft III mod, it was the beta testers that made it possible to get this bug-riddled game with poor balance ready for release. 

Most of the testers received the Master Icon, while the top 100 received the Grand Master Beta Tester Icon, which is the rarest of the League of Legends icons, and the best LoL Icon to have, denoting years of loyalty to the game.
