How to Fix "Unable to Verify What Products You Own" Error in Minecraft

Restart Your PC and Router

The first thing you should do right now to fix this Minecraft launcher error is to restart your PC and router. Restarting your PC will give the launcher a fresh new start that can resolve this issue!

A bad Internet connection might also be at fault, causing the error when you try to open any game from the launcher, like Minecraft Dungeons. You can try restarting your router by simply plugging it off from its power source for around 5 minutes, then plugging it back in.

How to Restart Router

Doing this should make your PC run better and speed up your Internet connection for a bit. Doing an Internet speed test can also tell you much about your Internet connection. If the speed is very low at around 5Mbps or under, then definitely consider moving your device closer to your router. If it's still low, contact your Internet provider to see what may be causing sluggish Internet speed!

Repair and Reset the Minecraft Launcher

Since the Minecraft launcher is at fault in this situation making you unable to open Minecraft Dungeons or any game for that matter, Windows has a built-in way to try and repair it! So here's how to fix Minecraft "We were unable to verify what products you own" error by repairing the launcher:

  1. Make sure you close the Minecraft launcher
  2. Press the Windows Key+I on your keyboard to open Settings
  3. Select the "Apps" option
  4. Click on "Installed Apps"
  5. Find "Minecraft Launcher", click on the triple dots on the right, and select "Advanced Options"
  6. Click on "Repair", wait until the process finishes, and then click on "Reset"

Both of these processes shouldn't take long, and checkmarks will appear next to them once they're finished doing their job on the Windows Minecraft launcher. Now you should be able to go ahead and start launching Minecraft again with no issue to build the best house ideas ever!

Check the Minecraft Servers

Sometimes the issue behind Minecraft not being able to verify owned products may not even be your fault! When the official Minecraft servers are down or under maintenance, the error will appear on your side and many other players. What you'll have to do in this situation is check the Minecraft servers here.

Minecraft Check Official Servers

Don't confuse this with the best Star Wars servers or other multiplayer ones, but rather the official Microsoft Minecraft servers. If the servers are down, then all you can do is wait until they're back up again. But if they aren't, then try out the other solutions here to fix the issue!

Relog With Account on Launcher, Microsoft Store, and Xbox App

When you're trying to launch Minecraft Dungeons or any other game, the process goes through your Microsoft account. The Minecraft launcher doesn't recognize your account causing this error, and logging in and out can often fix it!

If you're getting the error on a Windows PC, you'll also have to relog with your Minecraft account on the Microsoft Store and Xbox app as well. So here's how to log out and in with your Minecraft account on the launcher:

  1. Open the Minecraft launcher
  2. Click on your profile picture at the top left corner, select "Log out", and close the launcher
  3. In the Search bar below, type in "Microsoft Store", and open the store app
  4. Click your account profile picture in the top right corner, and select "Sign out"
  5. In the Search bar below, type in "Xbox", and open the app (don't confuse it with Game Bar)
  6. Click your account username at the top left corner, and select "Sign out"
  7. Open all these apps back again, and relog with your Microsoft Minecraft account in each

Some players have reported that they had to do this process each time they opened the launcher to fix the Minecraft "We were unable to verify what products you own" error. But if you don't want to do that to open your favorite games like Minecraft Legends, you may want to try and temper with the launcher itself!

Reinstall or Update Minecraft Launcher

Whenever there are updates for the Minecraft launcher, they should automatically get installed when you open it. But if they don't, then you can update it from the Microsoft store. All you have to do is open the store, click on Library at the bottom left corner, and select "Get updates".

Minecraft Launcher Update Microsoft Store

Although you can update the launcher to open any game like Minecraft Legends again, what I'd recommend you do is reinstall it whole. It will give the launcher a fresh start and should fix the product verification error. So here's how you can reinstall the Minecraft launcher:

  1. Open up your PC Settings by pressing the Windows Key+I on your keyboard
  2. Click on Apps on the left side, and select "Installed apps"
  3. Find the Minecraft launcher, click on the triple dots on the right side, and select "Uninstall"
  4. Go to the official Minecraft download website
  5. Click on the big "Download" button for Windows PCs, or select the MacOS option below for Mac devices
  6. Open the downloaded file, and proceed with the Minecraft launcher installation

With this, you can log in again with your Minecraft account and continue to build the best things possible! But if the issue persists, then there's one last thing you can try.

Install and Use the Minecraft Legacy Launcher

Finally, the last solution to fix the Minecraft "We were unable to verify what products you own" error is to install the Legacy launcher. The normal launcher uses what's called the Universal Windows Platform which logins and connects with your Microsoft Store and Xbox app. This Minecraft Legacy launcher doesn't do that and functions as an independent app!

To install it, just go to the official Minecraft launcher download website we saw above, but this time scroll below and select the "Download Windows Legacy Launcher" option. Then open the downloaded item and proceed with the installation. Once you're done, open the launcher, log in with your account, and you should be able to play Minecraft normally again!

And that's all the solutions to fix Minecraft's "We were unable to verify what products you own" error. Once all is said and done, you can go ahead and open Minecraft to start building the best Redstone ideas ever!
