Best counters for DVA in Overwatch 2
Though Sombra's hack is consistently nerfed, the skill hack Sombra provides will give your team enough time to cut through DVA’s health and armor without
having to deal with the Matrix. Used in tandem with any other damage-dealing character, and DVA will be rendered useless.
Another solid DPS choice is Symmetra. Her turrets will slow down DVA's allusiveness, and her energy beam is not affected by DVA's Matrix. However, Symmetra is relatively squishy, so getting so close to DVA may be dangerous without the proper support.
Out of all of the hit-scan heroes in Overwatch 2, Ashe would be the best pick against DVA. A solid flanker and a character who likes to keep her distance, you can usually avoid DVA as Ashe pretty easily. Though DVA can absorb Ashe's Dynamite directly, once it hits a surface like the wall or ground, DVA can't soak it up. Additionally, if DVA dives with her Boosters, Ashe can use her Coach Gun ability to knock her back and gain a bit of distance between themselves.
Shields are a general ultimate counter for DVA, so you have several choices for tank heroes that would help deal with DVA, so ne of the best counters would be Reinhardt. His hammer deals melee damage, so DVA can't absorb his swings. On top of that, his shield is a great way to counter DVA's cannons, missiles, and most importantly, her self-destruct ultimate. His large shield can protect your entire team from her powerful blast. The one thing to be wary of, though, is the timing of Reinhardt's Fire Strikes as DVA can eat those like candy.
Doomfist is also a great tank counter because of his melee and absorb abilities used in tandem. He can dive with his seismic slam, punch DVA away, then immediately absorb her micro missiles and fusion cannons at a distance. His only ability that DVA can absorb is his hand cannon, so you would have to time his shots or shoot at a different enemy player.
Though not a direct counter, Winston is also a great pick against DVA as all of his abilities work against her. He can provide constant damage through his Tesla Cannon and block all of DVA’s abilities with his Barrier Projector.
For support characters, you don’t have many direct counters, but Brigitte would be a strong pick. Again, none of her abilities are affected by DVA’s Defense Matrix, and the shield Brigitte provides, although smaller than Reinhardt, is
strong enough to help you and teammates survive a DVA bomb. Brigitte's
ultimate also increases movement speed, allowing her to either rush DVA
or move out of the way of DVA's ultimate quicker.
Moira can also do a solid job against DVA, as her Biotic Grasp and Coalescence can’t be soaked up by DVA’s Matrix. Additionally, her Fade ability is a great way to avoid a DVA dive or bomb. However, you have to be careful with your orbs, as DVA’s can swallow both kinds, so aim those away from the mech. Additionally, be sure to time your Coalescence. Though it is a strong counter to DVA, it limits Moira's movement speed, so only use the Ultimate if you are sure DVA doesn't have hers.
Lucio is a strong pick against DVA, as he eliminates her flanking abilities with his speed boost, and can also boop DVA away if she gets too close. DVA’s primary fire damage drop off is also pretty significant the further away she gets from the fight.
Ana wouldn't be my first pick against DVA, but she can still do a solid job in teams fights and denying some of the tankiness DVA offers. If you are playing characters like Ana, aiming at the ground at DVA's feet with your Biotic Grenade or waiting until she tries to run away to sleep will help you pick DVA off will help you win fights. DVA's energy Matrix has a spread directly in front of her, with a spread of 10 meters. Staying with your team while playing Ana is important, but if you can stay towards the side of your team or get quickly behind her after she dives your teammate, she can't soak up your damage. Remember, though, that DVA can still absorb all of Ana's abilities, so time or aim them correctly.
