If you’ve been playing Rocket League for a while now, you already know that the RL garage comes with a tremendous amount of customization options. Among these options in your Rocket League Arsenal, Player Anthem is very popular and sought after in the Rocket League community.
What is a Player Anthem in Rocket League?
The player anthem is basically a song that plays for all players when in-game events trigger. You can get these songs in several ways; more on them later. But if you’re new to the game you should probably know what a Player Anthem is, or more specifically, what it does. Here’s when your Player Anthem is played in the game:
When you score a goal
When you make an epic save
When you get the MVP honors
You can find these anthems in your Rocket League garage. Every player starts off with five tracks from the free player anthem bundle called Rocket League OST Vol. 1 album.
How to get Player Anthems in Rocket League
Get Player Anthems with Challenges
Challenges are specific sets of goals for you to achieve in the game. There are three types of challenges in the game: Weekly challenges, Season challenges, and Event challenges.
Each week, players get three free Weekly Challenges. Plus, Rocket Pass Premium users get an additional three each week. Weekly Challenges have to be completed during the week when they are active. You’ll unlock weekly and season challenges after you reach level 20. So, let’s dive into the step-by-step guide on how to get Player Anthems through challenges.
Complete a challenge
Go to the challenges section to claim the “Drop”, which is Rocket League’s version of a loot crate. Drops have different types of rarity, so your chance to get a player anthem depends on the type of challenge and the type of crate.
Open the Drop to find out your reward.
If you win a player anthem, you can equip it from your garage.
Drops are the easiest way to get player anthems and they’re free.
Get Player Anthems with Rocket Pass
Rocket Pass is a time-limited progression system that gives several ways to earn new content in Rocket League. There are several Rocket Passes every year, with an emphasis on new, unique content for each Pass.
Each pass comes with two types of rewards, like every battle pass out there. There are free rewards and premium rewards. It is quite certain that you’ll find at least one song or album in the Rocket Pass rewards.
From the free pass, you’ll get 2 free player anthems for sure; one at around tiers 11-25 and another at around tiers 45-60. Rocket Pass player anthems are “limited-time" items, meaning that you can’t buy them if you don’t get them from the season pass.
The premium pass, however, doesn’t reward you with player anthems. But it offers 17 Drops, so, you have a little chance to get a player anthem from these drops. The premium pass costs 1000 credits. So, it’s quite expensive with no assurance of getting a player anthem.
Get Player Anthems from the Item Shop
The Item Shop is an in-game store accessible from the main menu of your RL main menu where you can use Credits to buy various items. The in-game store offers you featured items that are rotated on a 48-hour timer and daily items on a 24-hour timer. Once the timer expires, new items enter the shop. The item shop includes all types of in-game items for Rocket League, like vehicles, player banners, wheels, goal explosions, and player anthems.
Prior to purchasing, you will be able to see each item's details. You can even listen to the song you’re about to buy when you click on the anthem. Player anthems in the gift shop will be “very rare”. These very rare player anthems will cost you 200 credits.
Last but not least, don’t expect to see a player anthem listed whenever you hop into the item shop. However, you’ll find at least 1 player anthem each week. So, be sure to check out the store every day.
Another thing you should know is that Player Anthems are not tradeable. So, you can’t trade player anthems for other items.
Fun fact: When did Rocket League introduce Player Anthems?
Player anthems were not a part of Rocket League from the beginning. These player anthems were added to the game when the Rocket League season 2 was launched. The developers still tell you if they're bringing on new songs in the Rocket League News section of their website. Here are the first 5 Player anthems in the initial player anthem bundle:
“Angel Wings” – by Mike Ault feat. Avianna Acid
“Flying Forever” – by Mike Ault feat. Morgan Perry
“I Can Be” – by Mike Ault feat. Crysta
“Love Thru the Night” – by Mike Ault
“We Speak Chinese” – by Mike Ault and Abandoned Carnival
We Speak Chinese is probably the most used Player Anthem in Rocket League.
