Valorant Error Code 63: How to Fix It

Every game has its ups and downs. Though the attention is thrown more on the downs, which are basically bugs and errors within the game. The Riot game Valorant does not differ from this rule, showing up bugs and errors in error codes. And the reason for these can vary a lot, from error codes about the Riot Vanguard, to a connection error code with the Riot Client.

One of these error codes is the Valorant Error Code 63. If you have encountered this error code, no worries as next up you will learn why you are getting it and how to fix Error Code 63 Valorant.

The Reason behind Valorant Error Code 63

The Valorant Error Code 63 is a bit tricky for the average player to understand, as it may not seem pretty clear why it appears. On the official Riot Games support site banner for error codes it is stated that the reason behind this error code is “ManagerDeleted”. The Valorant game runs on the back of background processes, and the Valorant Error Code 63 appears because something went wrong during the start of a process, more specifically the startup process.

One reason for the startup process to get mangled is if something went wrong during your start of the Riot Client. The Riot Client has been known to cause problems at times, and the instance with the Valorant Error Code 63 is not an exception.

Another reason for the Valorant Error Code 63 may lie within the Riot Vanguard, more specifically the VGC service that it runs. The Riot Vanguard is an anti-cheat system connected to the core of your Operating System, so it is no surprise that it plays a role within the Valorant Error Code 63.

Knowing why you are getting the Valorant Error Code 63 is a key factor, as next up you will learn how you can fix it.

How to FIx Valorant Error Code 63

Restart the Riot Client

The first solution you should try out is to restart the Riot Client. Even Riot Games recommends you try this out first. Sometimes the Riot Client can establish a bad connection with the game, so something will go wrong during the startup process resulting in the Valorant Error Code 63.

To fully restart the Riot Client, the first step you have to do is to open up the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Then select the Processes tab above and locate the Riot Client. Once you locate the Riot Client, select it and click on End task to close off the Riot Client process. You can also try out closing off other Valorant game-related processes which can increase the chances of fixing the Valorant Error Code 63.

You can also try restarting your PC too, as to have a clean and fresh start of all the processes that Valorant runs.

Though if restarting the Riot Client did not help you fix the Valorant Error Code 63, do not worry as there are still other solutions you can try out below.

Change the Startup Type of the VGC Service

The VGC service that the Riot Vanguard is running in the background can cause the Valorant Error Code 63 to appear. This can happen mostly if the VGC service does not start automatically in the background with the start of the game client, so in this situation, you should change the startup type of the VGC service.

Firstly make sure you have closed off the Riot Vanguard, the Riot Client and all game-related content. Then the first step towards doing this is going to the Search Bar below and searching for Run. When you select it, a new window will pop up where you will type in the following command and press enter: “services.msc”. This will lead you to a new window where you will be met with a lot of services that your PC runs in the background. You will have to locate the “vgc” service, and once you do, right-click it and select Properties. In here, you will change the Startup option to Automatic, click on Start, select Apply and click on OK.

After this, you should be able to start the game client free of the Valorant Error Code 63.

But if you are met with the Error Code 63 again, then your last chance is to

Reinstall Riot Vanguard

The Riot Vanguard has been notorious in causing error codes, especially when it comes to problems with the Windows Firewall and the Windows Defender Firewall. It can cause the Valorant Error Code 63 too, most notably because the connection between the Valorant Vanguard and the VGC service may be damaged. This solution works on rare occasions, but some players have reported that it has helped them fix the Valorant Error Code 63. So here is how you can reinstall the Riot Vanguard step-by-step:

  1. Make sure you have closed off the Riot Client and the Riot Vanguard fully from the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). You should also check the System Tray option (arrow pointing upwards below on the Windows Taskbar) and if you notice Vanguard or any Valorant content, right-click them and close them off
  2. Go to the Search Bar below, search for Command Prompt, right-click it and run it as an Administrator
  3. Type in the following commands one by one: “sc delete vgc”, press Enter, and “sc delete vgk”, press Enter
  4. You must restart your PC
  5. When your PC boots up again, go to the Search Bar, search for This PC and select it
  6. Locate yourself to the Program Files folder, which can be found on the C partition (“C:\Program Files”)
  7. Find the Riot Vanguard folder, right-click it and select Delete
  8. Open up the Riot Client, this should start reinstalling Vanguard automatically
