Gamers often use Discord to communicate with friends or users who play games such as Valorant using voice chat. It is designed to function in the background with every game as effortlessly as possible and offers various benefits and options for gamers. It offers features such as custom game status and overlays, which can be found in the Discord settings.
How to Connect Valorant to Game Activity Status on PC
By connecting Valorant to the game activity feature, the auto-detect system will scan the game file of Valorant and display it to your account as your currently running game in your status message.
To connect Valorant to your game activity:
- Open Discord
- Once you open Discord, hover over the User Settings option
- Click on Activity Privacy and turn on Display current activity as a status message unlike in older versions, it can be found in the game activity tab
- Click on Registered Games; In older versions of Discord, it appears as Activity Status or Game Activity
- Valorant should be automatically connected in Registered Games by the auto-detect system
- Search for Valorant in your added games to check if it's connected, and it will present as your game status
You can also check what your friends are playing; click Friends and view your buddies and the game they're currently playing.

Unfortunately, some games won't show in your online status. Thus, you must manually create a custom status for them!

However, this special feature does not work for some gamers, and here are some solutions for you!
Ways to Fix Discord Overlay Not Showing Up
There are multiple cases and probable causes why your Discord Overlay does not work. These causes include that the game you currently play does not support this feature or could be security software. These are possible fix that might help you, such as:
Changing Discord Overlay Hotkey
Conflict hotkeys can be one of the causes for the Discord Overlay Feature not to appear. A solution would be changing the hotkey for Discord Overlay Feature by following these steps:
- Launch Discord and access the User Settings option
- From the Activity Settings, select Game Overlay
- Besides the Enable in-game overlay option, you will find the TOGGLE OVERLAY LOCK option
- Assign a new hotkey to the option and check if Discord Overlay is working
- Reboot Discord by pressing Ctrl + R and check if your Discord Overlay works
Running Discord as Administrator
Not providing admin privileges for Discord can sometimes cause the overlay feature not to appear. You can run Discord as an administrator by following these steps:
- Right-click your shortcut Discord application
- There, you will find an option to Run as an administrator.
Another way of running it as an administrator is by:
- Right-clicking your shortcut Discord application and selecting properties
- In the pop-up window, find the Compatibility tab
- Check Run this program as an administrator
- Restart Discord by pressing Ctrl + R and see if the Discord Overlay Feature is fully functioning.
Disabling Hardware Acceleration
Enabled Hardware Acceleration can cause Discord Overlay Feature to not show up. Follow these steps to disable hardware acceleration:
- Launch Discord app and click the User Settings icon
- Select Advanced
- There you will find an option of Hardware Acceleration, then disable it
- Restart Discord by pressing Ctrl + R and see if your Discord Overlay works
Rescaling Screen Display
Check if your display scale is 100%; if not, I suggest turning it in 100%, as this might cause the Discord Overlay Feature not to appear on your screen.
- To launch the Run command dialog box, press Win + R
- After launching the Run command dialog box, type ms-settings: and press Enter
- Select System
- Select Display, and there you can find Scale and Layout
- Set Scale and Layout to 100%
- Restart Discord by pressing Ctrl + R and see if your Discord Overlay works
Reinstalling Discord
If it's still not working even though you tried all the solutions above, I suggest reinstalling your Discord, as the problem might be within the application. To do this, follow these steps to reinstall Discord:
- To launch the Run command dialog box, press Win + R
- After launching the Run command dialog box, type Control Panel and press Enter
- Select Uninstall a program under Programs
