Best Project Zomboid Server Hosting Service [All Tested]

In a fine survival game like Project Zomboid, it's perfectly natural to want to have your own Project Zomboid server, and there are many reasons for this, for example, you might want to play Project Zomboid with your friends, or you might want to switch your existing server to a hosting provider that is more reliable, cheaper, or has a control panel that allows you to control your server more easily.

In addition, useful features that some Project Zomboid hosting does not provide, such as protection against DDoS attacks and ease of adding mods, make some brands one step ahead. While preparing this list for you, we tried and tested these hosting providers on our own Project Zomboid server and objectively prepared the list according to your needs.

It is also very important for a Project Zomboid server that it is easy to set up, does not crash easily, and is easy to manage with a good control panel.

Our most price-friendly hosting service in this listing is BiSect Hosting, if you are going to play with only a group of friends up to 4 people, 3-4 GB ram will be enough for your server, but if you are thinking of opening a public server, you should definitely increase your RAM.

G-Portal

G-Portal is a completely legit and great server host service. This is mainly due to its cheap and affordable pricing. On G-Portal, you can buy a 4 GB server for only $5.97, and with unlimited slots, of course, you will need to increase your ram as the number of players increases. One of the most beautiful features of G-Portal is that you can easily find out how much ram you need for how many slots just below the packages it contains.

G-Portal is a known service used by leading and knowledgeable server hosts in hosting. Based on our experience with the server we rented from G-Portal, I can easily say that the best game server hosting for Project Zomboid (and other games such as 7 Days To Die and Ark Survival: Evolved) is G-Portal.

G-Portal

G-Portal is in our opnion the best hosting service where you can host high performance gaming servers with unlimited slots although it's not the cheapest.

The biggest reason for this is that they have separate configurations for each game they offer and these configurations are very detailed. When you enter the server's interface from the control panel, you can change many features of the game server, you can install mods as you wish, can turn PvP on and off, and can even adjust where players log into the server will spawn with which items in their inventory.

You can back up your server up to 50 GB for free on G-Portal and every time Project Zomboid gets a new update, your server will be automatically updated to the latest version (you can turn it off). This way, if there is an unexpected problem, crash, or error on your Project Zomboid server, you can go to this restore point and save your server and the progress of the players on it.

From the Status section, you can easily monitor the CPU and RAM values on your server and act accordingly.

During our testing on G-Portal, our server remained very stable, there was no ping, lag, or server crash, and it was very performant.

The only place where we can deduct points from G-Portal is obviously the support section. They have a live phone support line for Europe and the US on weekdays and 24/7 ticket support, but they don't have a live chat support team that you can utilize through the site.

Overall, the only shortcoming of G-Portal is that it does not have a 24/7 live support team. When we take this aside, G-Portal is our best hosting choice for Project Zomboid, which has established a throne in our hearts with its cheap pricing and unlimited slots.

Bisect Hosting

Bisect Hosting is another beautiful and legit hosting company. Bisect Hosting is one of the first companies that comes to mind when it comes to Minecraft server hosting and they do a really good job in Minecraft, but this also applies to Project Zomboid. Bisect Hosting offers extremely low latency and, like other hosting services, provides DDoS protection for your server for free. They host their servers on SSD or NVM, which makes for a much more performant, fast, and uninterrupted experience, whether you're playing ARMA, DayZ, or any other game available on Bisect Hosting.

Unlike Nitrado, this provider, like G-Portal, is not stingy with slots and gives you affordable pricing, for example, a Project Zomboid server with 3 GB RAM, DDoS protection, and NVMe SSD will cost you only $5.99 to set up instantly.

During the Project Zomboid server test we rented from Bisect Hosting, we did not experience any delays or problems, everything went smoothly and beautifully. The setup of the server was done in just a few steps, and the server control panel makes it very easy to check the server's values and switch between menus.

2

Bisect Hosting fails in support because this provider does not have a Live Chat feature. Although the response time to tickets is short, it does not replace Live Chat, so we can say that this is a disadvantage for new people.

To summarize, Bisect Hosting gets full points from us for affordable pricing, generous slots, and an easy-to-navigate control panel, but we cut some points for the lack of Live Chat in the support section.

Based on our testing, you can buy a package from Bisect Hosting with peace of mind.

Nitrado

I don't think I even need to answer the question of whether Nitrado is legit because Nitrado is one of the first names that come to mind when it comes to server hosting. This is because they have been in the market for a long time and they do their job really well.

Nitrado
4.6 / 5

Nitrado is one of the highest quality hosting that has gained a place in this field with more than 100 different games it provides.

Managing a server at Nitrado is incredibly easy, and they don't use the same configuration for every game, but use game-specific configurations, which results in higher performance and a better experience on your servers.

From the control panel, you can customize your Project Zomboid servers as you wish and easily install Steam workshop mods. For a game like Project Zomboid, it's very useful to be able to easily install mods at no extra cost.

3

With superior performance, daily backups, and DDoS protection, Nitrado has everything you need. After choosing a server plan with how many slots, you will be charged extra to add ram to your server.

Even though Nitrado does its job well and offers individual server settings for each different game, it's still too little for the price. A 4-slot server starts at $6.19 per month, and on top of such a small number of slots, you're also charged for ram. Ram charges are 2 GB 3.10$, 3GB 7.70$, and finally 6GB 10.70$, which is a very expensive price for a few player slots. It should also be noted that the higher the number of slots in Nitrado, the higher the ram prices you will add to your server.

ScalaCube

ScalaCube is another legit server hosting service that we heard about thanks to Minecraft. It also serves Project Zomboid. With ScalaCube, you can very easily open your Project Zomboid server today.

ScalaCube

ScalaCube stands out for its simplicity, relatively cheap and plenty of player slots.

The Project Zomboid server we rented at ScalaCube had no lag or latency issues, and we were able to easily install any Project Zomboid mods we wanted from Steam Workshop.

Like any quality hosting provider, ScalaCube offers DDoS protection for free. With 3 GB of RAM and 40 player slots, the average server costs just $10, which is a pretty good deal considering the ease of use and abundance of slots.

4

Although there is no live support, the speed of ScalaCube's support team is admirable. When we sent an e-mail, they got back to us within minutes.

In our opinion, you can easily get a Project Zomboid server from ScalaCube, which offers a wide selection of packages, affordable prices, and a good support team.

Host Havoc

The next and last legit host is Host Havoc, and just like the others, we rented a server and ran a performance test. As a result of this test, we didn't experience any errors, lags, or connection problems, everything went very well and the setup process was very simple and short.

Host Havoc is a very reliable and trustworthy company, but not the best.

We did not encounter any issues or problems during the testing of our server, and their control panel is pretty clean but according to our research, Host Havoc has many more negative comments in the support section than other hosting providers.

5

For example, if you notice when buying a server, you are not allowed to select RAM, and you are told that it is scaled according to your player slot, but as a result of our research, we saw that under a topic called Recommended and Must Avoid Hosting on Reddit, a user claimed that no matter how many slots you buy, Host Havoc still gives you 8GB RAM.

6

Another situation we learned in this Reddit thread is that although the support team was notified and the deleted debit card was charged every month, the support team did not respond to the person's tickets, so the user moved his server from Host Havoc to another provider as a last resort. In addition to these reviews, there were also some people who were very satisfied with Host Havoc.

When it comes to pricing, we can say that Host Havoc has the most expensive packages after Nitrado. We can understand Nitrado is a reliable and established company in this field, but for hosting like Host Havoc, these packages are too expensive.

Although our experience was good, in light of these pieces of informations in general, I would not take a risk like Host Havoc when there are such serious accusations when there are better options as above.
