Brand is a very good early game Support champion, with his ability to put out some of the best poke numbers in the Bot Lane, he can single handedly win a fight! Whilst Brand used to be a Mid Laner, he is now played as a Support.

Brand is one of the easier damage Supports to master, and in Patch 12.15, we believe Brand is a solid pick to use. A low 2.9% pick rate and an even lower 1.4% ban rate means that he is easy to one trick!

First off, we will start with the best Brand Support rune build, which focuses on the Domination runes as a primary and the Sorcery tree as a secondary!

Dark Harvest as a keystone rune means that Brand can generate stacks by damaging enemy champions below 50% HP. These stacks massively increase his first damage output after 45 seconds on a champion.

Taste of Blood gives Brand some survivability, as he gets healed when he damages an enemy champion, on a 20 second cooldown. Eyeball Collection is another stacking damage buff rune, and Treasure Hunter gives Brand bonus gold for the first kill on a unique enemy champion - up to 150 gold for the fifth!

Brand’s secondary is Sorcery, and Manaflow Band helps him poke more in the laning phase, by restoring his mana faster and increasing his maximum mana. Scorch is a little damage boost for that poke in lane too!

With Brand’s main role to poke in lane, any extra damage helps, this is why +18 Adaptive Force is incredible on Offence and Flex, so Brand can dish out the damage! Armor in Defense helps protect Brand from the enemy ADC.

Hecarim and Shaco are two of the few champions that don’t use Flash, but Brand needs it due to his lack of mobility. If he gets ganked and is stuck in a fight, he has no way out, so stay at range!

Ignite is even more damage, and it is great with his abilities, as it is more fire to burn your enemies to a crisp!

Best Brand Abilities Order

This is one of the most important parts, as you want to make sure you are leveling the right abilities at the right time! This is the best skill order for Brand’s abilites:

With your skill order, the main ability you want to prioritize is W, Pillar of Flame. This AOE ability is your main poking tool in lane early game, and is the best ability to set up your stun with your Q, Sear - which is what you level up second.

E, Conflagration is left until last as it only applies Ablaze. You should have Brand’s Ultimate Ability, Pyroclasm leveled up at 6,12, and 16 so you can demolish team fights as it does more damage for every enemy hit.

Spellthief’s Edge upgrades into Shard of True Ice, which you then follow up with Sorcerer’s Shoes. These two together are a large power spike for Brand, giving him 40 Magic Damage, 75 HP, 115% Base Mana Regen and 18 Magic Penetration.

Your mythic item is Liandry’s Anguish, which deals more damage to higher HP enemies, and also burns enemies. The stats it comes with include 80 AP, 600 Mana, and 200 Ability Haste.

This is the final build that you want to aim toward when playing Brand.

Brand then follows those three with some slightly tankier items, the first of which is Zhonya’s Hourglass. Being quite squishy, the two seconds invulnerability is incredibly useful if an assassin, such as Zed or Talon jumps on you. It also gives 65 AP, 45 Armor, and 10 Ability Haste.

Demonic Embrace is item five which also burns enemies, and it gives 60 AP and 450 HP, as well as bonus health being converted to AP. The last item is Rylai’s Crystal Scepter, which slows enemies! It has 75 AP and 400 HP.

Taric can heal up both himself and his ADC, as well as stun Brand if he goes forward to poke the ADC with Pillar of Flame, so be careful of stepping up. Ashe can slow Brand with her auto attacks, meaning if he steps up for poke, he might not get out again. Sona, similar to Taric, can out heal Brand’s damage for both of her duo, but also speed up and avoid his abilities!

Swain has a very short range on his abilities, and cannot poke back when Brand pokes him, so you should be able to play it smart and avoid him. Leona is similar with her short range, just be careful of her ultimate ability, Solar Flare.
