Method 1: Appearing Offline using the Command Prompt
The way of appearing offline in League of Legends works is by disabling the connection between Riot Games servers and the IP address your computer gives off.
As a result, the PVP chat in the League of Legends client will be disconnected. This translates into your “friends list” being unable to see your “online” status. The thing here is that you most likely won’t be able to see who’s online either, so be mindful of this when “activating” the offline mode.
The good thing about this method is that you don’t have to install any program to disconnect your PVP chat with friends from Riot’s servers. Instead, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:
- First of all, make sure your Windows Firewall is activated by going to your computer settings, clicking on the Control Panel, and then searching for the option that says “Windows Firewall” There, you can check its status.
- Now, for the Command Prompt (cmd.exe), open it, and run it in admin mode.
- At this point, you’ll have to know what version of the client you have installed. Whether it is the North American Client (NA) or European (EU, depending on which one you have, you’ll have to copy and paste one of the following into the Command Prompt.
- For the North America Client copy: netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=”lolchat” dir=out remoteip=192.64.174.69 protocol=TCP action=block
- For the Europe Client copy: netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name=”lolchat” dir=out remoteip=185.40.64.69 protocol=TCP action=block
- After you copy the correct text, all you have to do is press “Enter.”
Method 2: Appearing Online using the Command Prompt
Now, let’s assume that you are ready to talk to your friends again in LoL, to appear online again in the League of Legends client, similar to the ones we already described. Then, all you have to do is follow these steps:
- Step 1: Open the Command Prompt (cmd.exe) and run it as administrator.
- Step 2: Now, copy and paste this text into it: netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name= “lolchat”
- Step 3: Then, all you have to do is hit Enter, and the connection between your IP address and the chat servers of Riot Games will be established, allowing you to use the chat again.
As you can see, the offline mode in League of Legends through the Command Prompt is quite simple. Still, there is another method that players often may prefer if they’re not feeling the most confident when it comes to using the “cmd.exe”. That is by using a third-party program.
Method 3: Appearing Offline and Online using Deceive
Deceive is a third-party software that does all the work for you with the simple clicks of some assons. Using this program is totally safe, and you won’t get banned if you disconnect your PC from Riot’s chat servers through this method to avoid those friends who may not be the best players.
To appear offline using Deceive, all you have to do is follow these steps:
- Download Deceive from their official website by clicking here.
- Anytime you’re going to disconnect your chat using Deceive, beware that you have to launch the game using the Deceive launcher, which you have to run in admin mode.
You should consider the fact that Deceive is a software that may give you some troubles from time to time, so learning how to use the “cmd.exe” would be a good idea when this happens and you want to be offline.
Although it’s not an integrated option in the League of Legends client, it is possible to be offline for your friends the chat thanks to the solutions we’ve gone through here. So don’t doubt trying them if you want to have some time alone during your games.
Still, if you’ve decided that the game isn’t doing any good for you because matches are too long, or perhaps the toxic behavior of other players, then take a look at our guide on How to Uninstall League of Legends.
