Overwatch 2 does have a cross platform play support. Despite its flaws, Blizzard Entertainment finally allowed Nintendo Switch accounts, Xbox accounts, and PlayStation accounts to connect amongst each other with PC players.
What Does Crossplay enable in Overwatch 2?
Cross-platform in Overwatch for two major things:
- Overwatch 2 players can team up and queue with friends across all platforms, PC, demolishing the separation consoles once had with player bases. This is mostly known as cross-play.
- Overwatch 2 players can keep their progression saved from each platform, and continue that progression on the same platforms whenever. This is known as cross-platform progression or cross-progression.
So yeah, in short, you get to play the same game on every platform. However, it's worth noting that if you play on PC with your console friends, they will enter the PC pool, which will remove their aim assist. Games may not be as fun without it, as console accounts will surely struggle versus the traditional mouse and keyboard. Cross-play is therefore still not perfect, but at least you can keep gaming with your friends, no matter the situation.
How To Enable Overwatch 2 Crossplay and Cross Progression
To play with your friends locked away among the several platforms Overwatch 2 is out on, all you need is one thing — your friend's BattleTag. If you have that, just add your friend through Battle.Net or in-game.
Depending on the console you play on, you might need to link your console account with a Battle.net one to allow for cross-progression, and here's how to do that:
- Head to the Battle.net account website.
- Log into the account you wish to link.
- On your profile top right, select Account Settings.
- Select the Connections tab on the left.
- Click the "+Connect" button on the account you are linking.
- The respective connection will start the linking process through their site.

And that's it, from now on, you will have all your friends, rarest skins, and hours played stats same on PC and the console you play on!
Note that these platforms have a year cooldown between account links, so be very careful, and double-check any information. After linking whichever account, your progress will now be stored on your Battle.net account, free to access from anywhere.
