GoVaHo (Golem + Valkyrie + Hog Rider)

GoVaHo is an exciting Clash of Clans attack strategy you can try at Town Hall 8, as you’ll get to experiment with many different troops. Mastering this strategy will be very beneficial in the future, as it requires a lot of skill. To use the GoVaHo strategy, your army composition should look like this:

GoVaHo

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Valkyries or Hog Riders to strengthen your army.

GoVaHo Funnel

  1. The good thing about this army is that you don’t need to lure out the Clan Castle Troops before the attack.

  2. Choose one side of the base, then place two Golems spread out on the left and right side.

  3. Follow up with all your Wizards behind the Golems, deploying them in a straight line to create a funnel.

  4. Once a funnel has been created, start dropping Wall Breakers, Valkyries, and your Barbarian King. If funneled correctly, your troops will be headed to the center of the base. Support these troops with your one Rage Spell.

  5. While your army keeps the defense structures busy, start dropping all your Hog Riders on another side of the base. These Hogs will be your main kill squad.

  6. Keep watching your Hog Riders and use your two Healing Spells whenever necessary.

Zap Dragon

The Mass Dragons attack strategy is arguably the most uncomplicated strategy on the list, also used often in Town Hall 7. The army composition is straightforward. However, you will need Clan Castle Troops for this army! Your army composition should look like this:

Zap Dragon

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Balloons and a Lightning Spell to strengthen your army.

Dragon Funnel

  1. You will need eight Lightning Spells that are at least Level 5 (max level upgrade for Town Hall 8) for this army.

  2. You will need four Lightning Spells to destroy an Air Defense, meaning eight spells to kill two Air Defenses. This is where you will need to request an extra Lightning Spell.

  3. Once you’ve got everything ready, you can remove two Air Defenses using your spells.

  4. Then, pick the side where the last remaining Air Defense is located.

  5. Once a side has been chosen, you will put one Dragon on one side and another on the other.

  6. The purpose of this is to have these troops create a funnel for your main “kill squad” to go to the center of the base.

  7. Once the buildings on the side are cleared, deploy the rest of your Dragons in a line.

  8. Your Dragons should be headed toward the center of the base. Since you’ve used your entire army, all you will have to do is wait and watch your Dragons destroy the entire base.

Remaining Dragons

3 /5

Mass Hog Riders

Mass Hog Riders isn’t a new strategy exclusive to Town Hall 8, but it is still highly effective to farm gold fast. For this variation, we will add a PEKKA and some Wizards to help out. Your army composition for the Mass Hog Riders strategy should look like this:

Mass Hogs

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Hog Riders to strengthen your army.

PEKKA Wizard Squad

  1. The first step is to lure the enemy Clan Castle Troops out with one or two Hog Riders. Deal with them using your Wizards and Poison Spell.

  2. Once the CC Troops are taken care of, drop your PEKKA on one corner of the base, followed up with your remaining Wizards in a line. These Wizards should build a funnel for your PEKKA inside the base.

  3. Support them with Wall Breakers and your Barbarian King. Let this group of troops deal some damage to the base, but do not use any spells to support them.

  4. After giving some time for your PEKKA and Wizards to develop, you will drop all your Hog Riders on another side of the base.

  5. You will have three Healing Spells to use on these Hog Riders. Your Hog Riders may split up, so pay attention to which group has the most Hogs.

  6. Drop your Heal Spells when Giant Bombs or other splash defenses threaten your Hogs.

Mass Hogs

GoWiPe + Hog (Golem + Wizard + Pekka + Hog Rider)

The GoWiPe is one of the attack strategies that has been out for a long time, but it’s time to make some adjustments as things have changed over the years. We’re going to be adding Hog Riders into the mix! For this attack strategy, your army composition should look like this:

GoWiPe Hog

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Hog Riders to strengthen your army.

Golem King Funnel

  1. With this army, you won’t necessarily have to lure out the enemy Clan Castle Troops.

  2. Once you’ve chosen where to attack, place your Golem on one side and your Barbarian King on the other.

  3. Support your King and Golem with Wizards forming a straight line. These Wizards will clear out buildings and create a funnel.

  4. Once the outer buildings have been removed, drop your two PEKKAs and use Wall Breakers to get into the base.

  5. You can use your Rage Spells and Poison Spell in case any Clan Castle Troops come out.

  6. After some time, you will start deploying all your Hog Riders on one side of the base.

  7. You’ll focus your two remaining Heal Spells on these Hog Riders, ensuring you place your spells when they fall low on HP.

Hog Riders

5 /5

GoHogs (Golem + Hog Rider)

The final strategy is another variation of the Mass Hog Riders strategy, but this time, we’ll add a Golem and some Wizards to damage the base. To try out the GoHogs strategy, your army composition should look like this:

GoHogs

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Hog Riders to strengthen your army.

Golem King Wizards Funnel

  1. Like the previous strategy, you won’t have to lure out Clan Castle Troops.

  2. Again, you will start a funnel using your Golem, King, and Wizards. You will break into the base with this group using Wall Breakers.

  3. Let this group of troops deal some damage to the base, supporting them with one Rage Spell and using your Poison Spell in case Clan Castle Troops come out to defend.

  4. While the enemy defenses are busy targeting your Golem and King, you’re going to begin dropping all your Hog Riders on one side of the base. This time, you’ll have plenty of Hogs to work with.

  5. You will have two Healing Spells to keep your Hogs healthy, so if they split up into groups, identify which group of Hog Riders have the most in them.

  6. Prepare your Healing Spells for any Giant Bombs or splash defenses.

Hog Placement

And that’s it! These are five highly effective strategies you can use for Clan War attacks at Town Hall 8. If these armies have helped you get through this Town Hall level quickly, you might want to prepare yourself for the best army compositions for Town Hall 9!
