Finding the precise Server Locations for Eve Online

Eve Online is a space-based MMORPG from 2003 with a very peculiar server system. Unlike the most massive multiplayer online games, where several copies of the game world are located on numerous servers, Eve Online works as an online game with a single universe, which you can access from different servers.

The great thing about Even Online is that the developers don’t have to reset the server when applying changes, unlike other MMORPG titles where a server goes down when the game needs to be updated with new content. However, that doesn’t mean that servers are always available; the company needs to shut them down when performing routine maintenance.

Location of the Eve Online game servers

There are a few Eve server locations you can access at any time. At this point, all you need to do is simply refresh your game to check where you're assigned. Eve Online has 6 dedicated servers with unique names:

  • Tranquility
  • Serenity
  • Buckingham
  • Singularity
  • Duality
  • Multiplicity

Although the names are pretty cool, this might cause some confusion for people who just want to log in to the closest server to their location. We don’t know much about the servers aside from the fact that Serenity is located in China and that the company has one of the servers in London (probably Tranquility).

Importance of Eve Online server location

Like any other game, finding a server close to your location is crucial. Playing on one that is far away from your current position can significantly increase lag due to a high PING that can be fixed. As we don’t know where each of the Eve Online servers is located, we can only guess the optimal one. Ideally, you should try several of them to see which one suits you the best. You can also check ping during a EVE sessions.

The good thing about this is that, unlike shooters and MOBAs, having a lag will not necessarily ruin your MOBA experience. In other words, you can log out of the game and try a different server without being penalized for quitting the match (as you would with titles such as Dota 2 or Valorant).

Given that this is quite an addictive game, and can make you lose track of things, make sure to check the number of hours played in Eve Online from time to time.

Eve Online server providers

It is hard to say who the main internet provider for Eve Online is. Pearl Abyss bought CCP games in 2018, and they have probably taken over the server organization. Given that this is a South Korean company, there is a good chance they’re working with one of the home country’s providers. Then again, this doesn’t have to be the case.

We do know that Eve Online servers rely on Cloudflare solutions to protect themselves from DDoS attacks. This is probably the main reason why they were so stable over the years. Anyway, regardless of who is providing the service, you should have a smooth gaming experience when playing Eve Online.

How to check Eve Online server status?

3

There are a few sites that can help you track the status of Eve Online servers. The best page for this particular purpose is Eve-offline.net. It provides extensive data about each one of the servers over time. You can check what was happening in the last 36 hours, 1 week, 2 weeks, last month, last 2 months, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or forever.

Alternatively, you can go to Pingserverstatus.com. Although the site is not as reliable as the previously mentioned one, it might give you some additional insights.

Before installing the game, make sure you have enough size to install Eve Online, as the game is quite large. And you might also be interested in learning the current prices of ISK.
