2 Best Elements to Send Chills Down Cryo Enemies

About Cryo Element

The cryo element, also well known for being ice, is definitely one of the coolest elements in Genshin Impact - just take a look at the cryo characters that you can play! (They definitely make you want to know how to get primogems fast.)

Cryo and hydro characters usually go hand in hand due to one of the elemental reactions cryo can make, which is Freeze. While you can apply freeze to enemies, enemies can also do the same to you! This is especially dangerous when cryo enemies are paired up with hydro enemies - if you are not careful, you can easily end up with one character dead.

Cryo enemies can dish out immense amounts of cryo damage while remaining relatively safe. Notable cryo enemies that you will face, or already have faced are:

  • Abyss Heralds: Frost Fall
  • One of the Vishaps from the Bathysmal Vishap Herd
  • Cryo Abyss Mages
  • Cryo Hypostases
  • Cryo Regisvines

Frostshrieker Bathysmal Vishap

Although not all listed, cryo enemies require slightly more attention as their attacks may incapacitate your active character, rendering you helpless.

Pyro

The pyro element is currently the best element to use against cyro characters. If you can deal cryo damage or pyro damage to the other, it results with the Melt reaction - massive damage dealt to the target. The logic of pyro and cryo "melting" also applies to real life - if you'd like to melt ice, perhaps putting it near fire - or into the fire - is a good way to get rid of ice.

The cryo elemental shield, probably most noticeable with the Cryo Abyss Mages' shields, are easily dispelled by applying pyro elemental damage. Good pyro element applicants in Genshin Impact are:

  • Yanfei and Klee - pyro-infused auto attacks (also known as normal attacks)
  • Bennett - elemental skill and elemental burst (low cooldown skill and pyro-infused auto attacks at constellation 6)
  • Dehya - elemental skill and elemental burst
  • Xiangling - elemental skill and elemental burst

Most pyro elemental bursts and elemental skills are sufficient to reduce cryo enemies' shields. Pyro DPS (Damage per Second) are also more than capable of defeating cryo enemies due to the significant damage that the Melt reaction does, thus you do not need to worry too much if you have properly built your characters - make sure they are not equipping the worst weapons and worst artifacts!

2 /2

Electro

Similar to how cryo is strong against electro, the opposite is true for this pair of elements. The Superconduct electro-cryo reactions are effective against their own respective element, thus prove to be a solid answer if you are facing a cryo enemy with a cryo shield on them.

Another way to deal with cryo shields with the electro element is to apply hydro and electro together to trigger Electro-charge. This creates an electro elemental damage-over-time effect on the cryo shields, giving you time to dodge the enemies' attacks while also damaging the elemental shield they have.

In order to quickly reduce the cryo enemies' HP that's hiding behind their shields, make sure to bring electro characters that can provide lots of electro damage, such as:

  • Fischl - elemental skill
  • Raiden Shogun - elemental skill and elemental burst
  • Yae Miko - electro-infused auto attacks, elemental skill and elemental burst

Although there are many other elements, these are the two best elements for you to choose if you can set up your team against cryo characters. While playing Genshin Impact, just do not forget to enjoy the game, and explore Teyvat with the most fun characters to play as. Unless you feel like 2 elements are not enough and you have extra money to spare, you can try to learn the average cost to C6 a limited-time character.
