How To Make Valorant Use More GPU [4 Easy Methods]

Set Valorant To High Priority

The next step is a very effective solution to low GPU usage in Valorant. We're going to be using the Task Manager to set Valorant's priority to high, meaning your computer and GPU will focus on giving the best performance for Valorant.

Follow these steps below to set Valorant to high priority:

1. Launch Valorant, as we need the game open for it to appear in the Task Manager

2. Hit your Windows key and search for Task Manager, or press Ctrl + Shift + Esc if you're on Windows 11

3. Go to the Details section of the Task Manager

4. Look for Valorant. You can press your V key to quickly navigate through processes starting with the letter V

5. You should see two Valorant tasks, VALORANT.exe and VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe

6. One by one, right-click each of them and hover your mouse over Set Priority

7. I recommend setting the priority to High if you play Valorant normally or set it to Above Normal if you like streaming Valorant

8. Make sure to set the priority for both VALORANT.exe and VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe

Now, every time Valorant is open, your computer will focus on giving it the highest priority, leading to higher GPU usage and increased FPS performance overall.

Change Power Plan To High/Ultra Performance

Another way to boost Valorant's GPU usage is to boost your overall computer's performance. In your computer's graphics settings, you can set the power plan to High or Ultra Performance to increase the overall GPU usage.

We'll be tweaking the Windows Graphics Power Settings. The process is fast and easy, so be sure to follow the steps below:

1. Hit your Windows key and search for Edit Power Plan

2. In the menu, click on Change advanced power settings

3. Change the Power Plan to either High Performance or Ultra Performance if it's available

4. Click Apply to save your changes

Now, your computer will be set to a higher-performance mode. The only drawback is it will drain the battery faster if you're playing on a laptop. But still, most players on a laptop would play Valorant while plugged in, so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Lower Down GPU Usage From Other Applications

Another way to let Valorant use more GPU is to reduce GPU usage from background applications such as Discord.

Discord has a Hardware Acceleration setting that is usually turned on, which affects your GPU usage. To turn off Hardware Acceleration on Discord, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings tab on Discord

2. Scroll down to App Settings and click Advanced

3. Uncheck the Hardware Acceleration option if it is turned on

Other background applications like your browser or Steam could secretly be eating up your GPU usage. You can configure the settings for each of these applications to free up more GPU space for Valorant to use and fix low client FPS problems.

Boost NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency

The last one is probably the least effective method, but it's worth a shot. What we're doing here is turning on NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency in Valorant and boosting it too.

Keep in mind that this method will only work if you are using an NVIDIA GPU.

This method can be done inside the Valorant client, so the first step is to launch your game. Next, follow the steps below:

1. In Valorant, go to your Settings

2. Then, go to the Video Settings

3. Under General, scroll all the way down

4. Change NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency to On + Boost

This setting should boost your NVIDIA (which is your graphics card) performance, leading to higher GPU usage.
