How to make Elden Ring Fullscreen Quickly [Solved]

Gather round, Tarnished. For your journey of Windowed Mode gameplay ends here.

Any longtime Souls player will tell you how much atmosphere impacts their enjoyment of a Fromsoft game, and for Elden Ring it is no different.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix any problems related to fullscreen in Elden Ring, so you can finally enjoy a gorgeous view ahead.

1

Solution 1: Use Keyboard Shortcuts on PC to fullscreen in Elden Ring

The first solution is the easiest and quickest to do. You can use the following 3 keyboard shortcuts on Windows PC to force a game to enter (or exit) fullscreen.

  1. [F11] key.
  2. Hold [Fn] then press [F11], only if your keyboard has a Fn (function) key.
  3. [Alt] [Enter] at the same time.

2

If neither option worked out for you, exit to the Main Menu and try Solution 2.

Solution 2: Change Screen Mode settings in Elden Ring to Fullscreen

This method is very direct, only requiring the player to use the game’s built-in settings to go fullscreen. Follow these instructions:

  1. Start Elden Ring on PC.
  2. On the starting menu (Main Menu), select [System].
  3. Navigate to the rightmost tab to access [Graphics].
  4. Change your Screen Mode to [Fullscreen] or [Borderless Windowed].

3

For some players, using Borderless Windowed mode provides a smoother experience, so it is down to your preference. Most times, selecting [Fullscreen] will provide the best frame rate. If you would like to learn more about optimization, read our guide on how you can improve Elden Ring’s FPS on PC.

Change Screen Mode from Outside the Game

Just as you can change your graphic settings in-game, you can edit the configurations OUTSIDE of the game as well. To do so, follow these steps closely:

  1. Open [File Explorer Options].
  2. Go to view and select [Show hidden files].
  3. Hit [OK] to confirm.

4

Now, we must search for a file called GraphicsConfig.xml, you can find it here: C:\Users\Username\APPDATA\EldenRing\GraphicsConfig.xml

  1. Open your [Main Drive] which is likely C or D drive → [Users] → [Your Username] → [AppData] → [EldenRing] → [GraphicsConfig.xml].
  2. Open up the file.
  3. Search for <config><ScreenMode> and make sure the line says: “<config><ScreenMode>FULLSCREEN</ScreenMode>”
  4. Save to confirm.

Solution 3: Type “-fullscreen” in Elden Ring’s Launch Settings in Steam

If Elden Ring keeps starting up in windowed mode despite your configurations, this is how you can fix it.

  1. Open up Steam, then right click Elden Ring in your library.
  2. Select [Properties].
  3. Type in “-fullscreen” under Launch Options and exit the menu.
  4. Run Elden Ring.

5

Solution 4: Run in compatibility mode to go fullscreen in Elden Ring

If you still can’t enter full screen mode, then it’s time to run Elden Ring in compatibility mode. This allows your previous configurations to have a better chance of working.

Follow these 4 steps:

  1. Find where you installed Elden Ring.

Installed from Steam: Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elden Ring

  1. Right click Elden Ring’s game exe and select [Properties].
  2. Click on the [Compatibility] tab, and check the box for compatibility mode.
  3. Launch Elden Ring and adjust to fullscreen with in-game settings or F11 keyboard shortcuts.

6

Solution 5: Update your graphic drivers or Turn off GPU Scaling
