Top 7 Best Burn Items in LoL to Deal DoT

1 /7

Death's Dance

We start our list off with the worst DoT item in the game, at least for the purpose that people think of when the burn effect is mentioned. Dealing damage that is. In fact, Death's Dance does the opposite, as it deals damage to the users themselves!

So, why would anyone buy such an item in the first place? The first reason, of course, is the stats provided by Death's Dance.

  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • 45 Armor

LoL - Death's Dance

The second reason is its effects. Death's Dance is bought to combat enemies that deal incredible burst damage, especially against the most popular assassins in LoL, as it does not offer magic resist.

It stores 30% of damage taken, and distributes it over 3 seconds to the user as a true damage burn effect, allowing their allies to lend a helping hand. And, if the user kills an enemy within 3 seconds of the user damaging them, Death's Dance heals the user for 50% bonus AD!

Scorchclaw

Learning how to play jungle in LoL is vastly different with the overhaul of season 13, with the addition of Jungle pets. One of those is a starting item, the Scorchclaw pup.

When bought, the Scorchclaw Pup does not offer any stats, but helps the jungler with their clear, granting bonus gold, health, mana regen, and experience while killing jungle camps. It can only be bought if the player has Smite as one of their Summoner Spells.

LoL - Scorchclaw Item

Upon killing enough jungle camps, and enough time passing in-game, Scorchcalw Pup is consumed and evolves into Scorchlaw, giving the player a unique ability. Every 0.5 seconds 3 stacks are gained.

With one 100 stacks, the next basic attack or ability damage will burn enemies close range, dealing bonus true damage over 4 seconds, and slowing them for 30% for 2 seconds! As the damage scales with the target's max health percentage, it's also one of the best LoL items against tanks!

3 /7

Corrupting Potion

The only other starting item that applies the burn effect in League of Legends is the Corrupting Potion. Unlike the Scorchclaw, however, it can be bought by anyone and does not have a requirement for optimal usage.

It works with a similar principle in mind, as one of the most gold-efficient items in LoL, the Refillable Potion, with three charges that refill upon returning to the fountain. However, being priced at 500 Gold means it comes with stronger effects.

LoL - Corrupting Potion

The Corrupting Potion consumes a charge to regenerate 4 health and 3 mana every 0.5 seconds over 12 seconds, for a total of 100 health and 75 mana. That is not all, however, as , during this time, damaging basic attacks and ability damage against enemy champions burn them.

This effect deals 15 bonus magic damage over 3 seconds, increasing to 20 while the user cannot regenerate mana. It's an item that causes an extreme headache for anyone trying to trade against you in lane, especially when bought on a champion that deals physical damage!

4 /7

Bami's Cinder

The only item second tier item in League of Legends with a burn ability is Bami's Cinder. It's an item bought by tasks, building into Sunfire Aegis, and shares its Unique effect with it.

Bami's Cinder costs 1000 Gold to buy, and offers 300 bonus Health in stats. All in all, as far as stats go, Kindlegem is a far better option, if not for its effect!

LoL - Bami's Cinder

Its Unique ability, however, deals 12 plus 1% bonus health magic damage every second to enemies within 325 units, with the damage being increased by 25% against minions and monsters.

As this effect also executes minions that would be killed by one more tick of damage, it's a good way to improve early-game farming in LoL, for those that have trouble doing so.

5 /7

Sunfire Aegis

As a tier-three item, and a Legendary one at that, Sunfire Aegis is a complete upgrade on Bami's Cinder. Worth 2700 Gold, it's a must-have item for most of the best tanks in LoL.

  • 50 Armor
  • 500 Health

LoL - Sunfire Aegies

It shares its effect with Bami's Cinder. However, this item's passive effect deals magic damage with a 1.75% bonus health scaling. In addition, against an enemy champion, it stacks up to a 60% damage increase!

6 /7

Demonic Embrace

For the champions that deal magic damage, but are also tanks, such as Maokai or Mordekaiser, Demonic Embrace is the way to go! It offers a lot of stats and two unique effects!

  • 75 Ability Power
  • 30 Health

LoL - Demonic Embrace

The first effect it has, is called Dark Pact. It allows champions to gain bonus ability power based on 2% of their health!

The second effect is called Azakana Gaze. When dealing ability damage, it curses enemies, causing them to take 6.4%, when used by melee champions, and 4% for ranged, of their maximum health as total magic damage over 4 seconds!

7 /7

Liandry's Anguish

When thinking of the best AoE spells in League of Legends, dealt by mages from afar, we can't help but shudder when Liandry's is added to the mix in team fights to deal damage by the bucket load. It's an item for the battlemages, rather than the best burst mages LoL has, and its stats reflect this!

  • 80 ability power
  • 20 ability haste
  • 600 mana

LoL - Liandry's Anguis

The true gold mine are its effects, Torment, and Agony. The former activates when dealing ability damage, skill shot, or otherwise, as it deals burn damage to enemies, causing them to take 50 plus 6% AP plus 4% of the target's maximum health total magic damage over 4 seconds.

The latter, deals even more damage 0% − 12%, based on the target's bonus health, as bonus magic damage against enemy champions.
