How to Add Friends in League of Legends

League of Legends is, for better or worse, a team game. And, though this brings a host of problems from the toxic community, the banter you have with your friends, old or those made in the game when playing together is definitely worth it. 

Methods to Add Friends in League of Legends

Though SoloQ takes precedence, making new friends is still possible in League of Legends. And, to keep in contact with them, there are a few simple ways of adding them to your friends’ list.

Adding Friends in League of Legends Through the Friends’ List

The most straightforward way of adding friends in League of Legends is via the friends' list, located in the left corner of your LoL Client homepage. All you need to do is:

1. Click on the “Add Friend Button”
2. Type in Their Summoner Name or RIot ID
3. Send Request
4. Wait for them to accept the request

To make it helpful to players that wish to add people they have recently played with, no matter if it was a ranked or a normal game. Riot have instated a list of people you’ve recently played with, and all you need to do is click on the “Add Friend” option which appears when you hover over their Summoner Icon to send them a friend request.

Adding Friends Directly After a League of Legends Match

You can always skip the cumbersome process of remembering someone’s Summoner Name, as these tend to be weird more often than not, and just add them immediately after a match has ended if you wish to play with them again, and perhaps even make a Ranked Flex team.

The process is even simpler than it is with the friends’ list:

1. Right Click on the Player you wish to Add
2. Click on the “Add Friend” option
3. Wait for them to accept the request

How to Accept Friend Requests in League of Legends

If you’re an upstanding League of Legends Summoner, you’re likely to get quite a few friend requests over your long League of Legends career. Even better than the honor rewards, is the knowledge that someone wishes to play with you again after a match.

If such a thing were to happen, above your friends’ list there will be a pop-up containing a friends request. Then, all you have to do is:

1. Open the Friends Request Pop-up
2. Click on the Checkmark to accept the request

Unfortunately, if your performance has not been exemplary on a game, there is a chance that friend request is there for them to flame you in the client chat, so we advise not accepting just anyone in your friends’ list.
