Best Koji combos, strings and tips in Brawlhalla

Koji The Wandered, Honor’s Blade is a legend that is fiercely known for his possessing of high bow and sword skills in the world of Valhalla. He is a wise fighter who is always patient and ready in the meantime.

Koji stats

1

Koji is a semi-all rounded legend with a very high focus on dexterity. This makes him a bit on the tougher side because of his medium strength and defense stats don’t really make him a forgiving legend. The stance that we are going to be using on Koji is defense, because that is his lowest stat and the decrease on the dexterity is not too troubling because it is his highest stat.

Basics of Brawlhalla combos

There are two types of attacks: light and signature

2

Light attacks are used for approaching an enemy.

3

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.

Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Koji Best Combos, Strings and Signature Moves

Koji’s kit consists of a bow and sword, two of the easier weapons, his signature kit is pretty easy too, so we do recommend it for starters. But still do not forget that his stats make him a very punishable legend.

Koji’s bow signature moves and special tactics

Bow > nSig

Koji’s bow nSig is a long ranged vertical sig. It covers a long range whilst it’s going upwards, and it also is fast, but it doesn’t cover much width. Another flaw is that it can’t hit grounded opponents. Launches opponents vertically, finishes them at ~120%.

Bow > sSig

Koji shoots a wind powered arrow, shooting vertically over his head knocking back enemies hit. Simple sig, covers a little area but with okay speed. Finishes an opponent at 130%. This move can be paired with some light attack moves such as dLight and will be effective. Good signature overall.

Bow > dSig

Knock knock who’s there? Koji with a door slam right to the face of the hit enemy, oh and that's not all. Followed up with an arrow shooting diagonally upwards. Finishes an opponent at 160%.

Best Koji bow combos and strings

sLight > dLight

The best combo starter. Not possible at later percentages. You can mix it up with nAir, nLight, sAir etc.

dLight > nLight

The most basic bow combo. Racks up damage and leads into some strings. Possible at any percent.

dLight > nAir

Same as the nLight version, except you use this one to kill an enemy if you are in the middle of the stage. Possible at any percent.

dLight > nSig

String that consists of a sig in it, with a dodge frame only of 1. The dream of kill finishers. You can use this to rack up damage too. Finishes an opponent at 130%, possible at all percentages.

dLight > sAir

Same as the nAir version, except you use this one to kill an enemy if you are on the edge of the stage. Possible at any percent. Good combo starter.

sLight > dLight > nLight

The most basic “string” in the bow's arsenal. Between the sLight and dLight is a 1 frame dodge window, so it is almost a true combo. Pretty good kill confirm and also a safer string if you are unsure about going for the side-air, or not near a ledge to get the side-air kill. Possible up to 220% but after 190% has a bigger dodge window. It kills pretty early. Pretty good combo and can lead into gPs, dAirs etc.

dLight > Rec

Pretty good combo, good for all stages throughout the game. This is especially good for killing an opponent, because of the recovery. Another reason is, this is a true combo they cannot react to. But a downside is that you have to hit the end hitbox of the dLight because the combo won’t work otherwise. Possible at 20%

sLight > dLight > sAir > gP

The extended version of the most basic string. It deals a huge amount of damage and can give you a good position if you hit it. You can also use the dAir instead of the ground pound, depending on where your opponent tends to go after the sAir. The gP/dAir is used for edgeguarding at the end. Really useful string, be sure to practice it as sometimes it's hard to hit it right. It’s worth it though.

Koji’s sword signature moves and special tactics

Sword > nSig

Koji’s nSig is a high area covering move that also packs a punch. It is also fast and it is a semi two part sig. Also a great part is that it hits grounded opponents. You can use it for edge-guarding, finish off opponents, for strings etc.. but do not use it with a gC off stage, because it KILLS your momentum. Also it kills rather late compared to other sigs, ~150%

Sword > sSig

This is a two part sig that launches opponents horizontally. It is great for killing opponents and dealing damage. The first hit is much shorter than the second. One downside of it, is that it has a small area of cover. Finishes an opponent at %140.

Sword > dSig

Koji marks a star with his wind, dashing through it but missing if the star is not aligned with his enemy. Fast sig and covers a very good area. Finishes an opponent at 150%.

Best Koji sword combos and strings

dLight > sAir

Very popular string. Can be a kill option and is great for racking up damage. Use it if you are near the edge if you are trying to get a kill confirm, because that way it kills earlier than the Rec variant. That is the sAir’s advantage over the Rec.

Possible at all percentages

dLight > Rec

Classic. Deals the most damage out of all the true combos. Kill confirm at 160%. Use this when side-air won't kill (aka you aren’t near the edge of the stage). Possible at all percentages.

sLight > nLight

Most used string, it racks up solid damage. Smaller dodge window than the dLight version. Possible at all percentages.

dAir > gC > nLight

This string you can use after you land a dAir. This string is also great because of the nLight’s long duration, that allows you to still hit your opponent even if he neutral dodges whilst also being a powerful string starter.

Possible up to 90%, after use nSig because nLight leads better into strings at earlier %.

sLight > dLight

This is also a string. You can use it if you want to follow up into a true combo kill after the dLight, or for racking up damage. We recommend using this one at higher percentages to get a kill confirm because of the 2 additional dodge windows, compared to the nLight version. Possible at all percentages.

Koji is a relatively simple legend but is fast and unpredictable, but his low defense and strength stat can make him a bit tougher. Do not be fooled though, with every legend in the game you need to put the time and effort into mastering them. All you need now is a guide like mine to get you started

Koji Tips and Tricks

Sword and bow are two of the most simple weapons. They have pretty basic strings that can lead up to great damage! Also they both have solid recoveries, but that does not mean you shouldn’t mix up your “getting back on stage” options. Like always practice makes perfect. Also make sure you abuse bow’s strings because they are pretty strong and can give you a massive lead.
