Best Zariel combos, strings and tips in Brawlhalla

Zariel Stats

1

Zariel is a legend with a high focus on strength and defense, this makes him a bit more of a beginner- friendly legend because he can take more hits because of his high defense, and his attacks value more damage because of his high strength. His speed and dexterity are just below average however. The stance that we are going to be using is speed, because the dexterity stance decreases speed, which we are already short on.

Basics of Brawlhalla combos

There are two types of attacks: light and signature

2

Light attacks are used for approaching an enemy.

3

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.

Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Zariel’s Best Combos, Strings and Signature Moves

Zariel’s kit includes gauntlets and bow. The gauntlets are a bit tougher than the bow, but both weapons aren’t that tough to master and play. Just put in some time and you will see your improvement!

Gauntlets > nSig

Zariel’s gauntlet nSig is a long ranged move that also has decent area coverage. It has a fast startup, but the recovery back from the move can be slow. Other than that is a great move and it is a great option for covering the edge. On stage it however does have less kill potential, but an offstage gC is a great and fun dunk kill option, just however make sure you don’t spam it considering it is very much predictable. On stage finishes opponents at ~140%.

Gauntlets > sSig

A decent signature that does it’s job. Decent at startup and has good kill potential. Also has good area coverage but not alot of range. You can use it in strings, predict your opponents dodge pair it with a slide etc.. Launches opponents horizontally. Finishes them at ~140%.

Gauntlets > dSig

A very interesting signature. Zariel spreads out his wings from his gauntlets whilst covering a decent amount of area surrounding him. In terms of range, it also isn’t that special but considering that the wings hit both sides it is a redeeming factor. Decently fast. You can pair it with a slide, use it at the edge etc.. Launches opponents vertically, finishes them at ~140%.

dLight > sLight

The most basic true combo in gauntlet’s kit. Racks up damage and leads into many other strings. Good for mixing up your approaches. It also gives you great positioning if you land it because of the follow up sLight, and it is also great because it is possible at all percents because of the dLight’s fixed knockback.

nLight > sLight

This is a string. It is also good for racking up damage and you can also use it for mixup instead of the sLight or dLight, but it doesn’t really lead up into many other strings other than this one because the nLight is a kill move. Possible up to 90%

sLight > gC > sLight

This is a string. It is used to predict your opponent’s dodge. You can mix it with some other dodge read options to become the ultimate gauntlet master. It also deals solid damage. Possible at all percentages.

dLight > nLight

This is a true combo. Deals more damage than the sLight version, and has some string potential, however the follow up options are only possible at lower percentages, and so is the combo. This combo can also give you good positioning, which can also help you in 2v2, for example: You can use it to push your opponent away while your teammate is picking up a weapon. Possible up to 40%

sLight > Rec

This is a string. Nonetheless it is still a great kill confirm that also racks up damage. Also superb because of the sLight’s fixed knockback. You should seriously use this string in your arsenal. Possible at all percentages.

sLight> nAir > gC > nLight > sAir

This is one of the more complex gauntlet’s strings, because you will have to do some dodge reads if you want to accomplish it, but if you already know one complex string, all the other ones are just mix and match. Be careful though, because the follow-up nAir has a dodge window and is also jumpable. Gauntlets are all about mixup, and so is scythe.

Zariel bow signature moves and special tactics

Bow > sSig

A long ranged sig that has a fast start but somewhat slow recovery. Great range and area coverage. Finishes opponents at ~155%.

Bow > nSig

Decent range and area coverage. Doesn’t hit grounded opponents however. You can use it for edge-guarding, sneaky hits etc.. Also is not that great in terms of speed, but not too bad also. Finishes opponents at ~155%.

Bow > dSig

A very unique and intriguing signature. Most notable use is at the edge, but you can also use it on stage. It is sort of unpredictable, so feel free to get in some easy hits on your non-careful opponents. Has decent range and decent area coverage, Launches opponents vertically, finishes them at ~150%.

Best Zariel bow combos and strings

sLight > dLight

The best combo starter. Not possible at later percentages, but it is great for racking up damage. You can mix it up with nAir, nLight, sAir etc.

dLight > nLight

The most basic bow combo. Racks up damage and leads into some strings. It is a great combo and you should practice it and make sure you get it correctly every time! Every bow player needs to know this combo. Possible at all percentages because of dLight’s fixed knockback

dLight > nAir

Same as the nLight version, except you use this one to kill an enemy if you are in the middle of the stage. Also very viable and racks up damage, semi kill option. Possible at any percent because of dLight’s fixed knockback.

dLight > sAir

Same as the nAir version, except you use this one to kill an enemy if you are on the edge of the stage. Possible at any percent. Good string starter aswell and racks up great damage just like the other options. Make sure you know this option aswell!

sLight > dLight > sAir

The most basic “string” in the bow's arsenal. Between the sLight and dLight is a 1 frame dodge window, so it is almost a true combo. Pretty good kill confirm and also a safer string if you are unsure about going for the side-air, or not near a ledge to get the side-air kill. Possible up to 220% but after 190% has a bigger dodge window. It kills pretty early. Pretty good combo and can lead into gPs, dAirs etc.

dLight > Rec

Pretty good combo. Make sure you hit them with the tip of the dLight. This is especially good for killing an opponent, because of the recovery.

sLight > dLight > sAir > gP

The extended version of the most basic string. It deals a huge amount of damage and can give you a good position if you hit it. You can also use the dAir instead of the ground pound, depending on where your opponent tends to go after the sAir. The gP/dAir is used for edgeguarding at the end. Really useful string, be sure to practice it as sometimes it's hard to hit it right. It’s worth it though.
