Cross stats and best stance
Cross statistics favor strength and defense, with an average speed and a less than average dexterity. While making Cross slow these stats ensure that every attack counts due to the high damage.
Cross special tactics
Neutral game
During neutral your objective is to gain the advantage, either by throwing the opponent offstage or by force, dealing enough damage to make it retreat. Cross can achieve both methods fairly easily thanks to the huge damage and the powerful weapons that he possesses.
When using the gauntlets the keyword is manipulation. Juggle the opponent around using the side light and follow up with short aerial combos. Your main tools are the down air and the side light. When using the blasters, spacing is your best bet. Play around your range and frustrate the enemy with close shots or juggle it around using the force of the side air.
Offstage Game
Offstage is where gauntlets and blasters really shine. When using the blasters play around spacing and keep the enemy under you or to the side.
You can then use the down air or the side air to keep the opponent away from walls and get some space to work with.
When playing with the gauntlets you want to get up close and personal. Use short combos and make the enemy bounce around walls to line up for a ground pound, or follow the opponent with a series of neutral and down airs.
Edgeguarding
Edgeguarding with the gauntlets is a matter of reading the enemy movements. The short range of the weapon does not have great room for error. Play around dodge-reading and keep the enemy offstage using the down air or the neutral signature.
You can also do some limited chasing maneuvers and throw the opponent offstage using the neutral air. The blasters are far more forgiving and allow for a greater degree of flexibility. Play around the neutral air or the side air to catch enemies returning to stage, or use the side signature to deal with wall huggers.
