Wu Shang special tactics

Neutral game

During neutral your objective is to gain the advantage. Wu Shang weapons have a very different way of doing so. When using the gauntlets your main course of action should be to close the gap and try to catch the opponent using short combos. Dodge read if necessary and then move the enemy away from the stage using standard gauntlets combos.

When using the spear you have to exploit the long range of the weapon. Bait the opponent into a neutral light or a side light and then proceed with the standard spear combo to throw it offstage. Signatures are powerful and should be used whenever you can find the opportunity. Pretty much every Wu Shang signature attack has a lot of force and this can help in achieving a considerable advantage.

Offstage Game

Offstage should be played aggressively, using the long range of the spear or the pervasive threat of the gauntlets to lure the enemy into a favorable position. When using the gauntlets the deal is the same as the neutral game stage. Get close and reverse your position using either the side air or the neutral air to put your opponent in a complicated situation.

Offstage Game Wu Shang Brawhalla

When using the spear you want to use the recovery and the ground pound as much as possible. The range of both attacks is huge and the punishment for getting hit by those attacks is threatening enough that most opponents will either let you return to stage or give you a free kill.

Edgeguarding

Edgeguarding with the gauntlets is a matter of reading the enemy movements. The short range of the weapon does not have great room for error. Play around dodge-reading and keep the enemy offstage using the down air or the neutral signature. You can also do some limited chasing maneuvers and throw the opponent offstage using the neutral air.

Edgeguarding Wu Shang Brawlhalla

The spear is a far more forgiving style of playing. Try to exploit the long range of the weapon to force the opponent to either try a risky return to stage or keep their distance from you. Use the side air or the recovery to catch a returning to stage player.

Wu Shang does a horizontal sweep kick. If the hit connects he will also perform an additional spear stab. Useful signature for dealing with a grounded opponent, can also be used in short combos as a killing move.

Spear dSig

Wu Shang climbs on his spear before releasing a powerful surge of energy in an arch under himself. Extremely useful in edgeguarding situations, will often lead to a kill.

Gauntlets nSig

Wu Shang leaps in the air while spinning yellow energy around him. Easy to connect in edgeguarding situations, can also be used in short combos with the basic gauntlet attacks.

Gauntlets sSig

Wu Shang performs two fast punches while moving horizontally. If it connects he will also perform an additional punch that sends the opponent flying diagonally downward. A powerful signature that will lead to easy kills when performed near the edge.

Gauntlets dSig

Wu Shang charges up energy before releasing it, hitting both horizontal sides. The startup of the move will also work as a stunning move, drawing the enemy into the core of the energy blast. Difficult to hit in normal gameplay, a bait strategy or a combo is needed to hit this signature attack.

Best Wu Shang Gauntlets combos and strings

The gauntlets are a string based, low range weapon. They have great aerial juggle capabilities like gauntlets and hammer, while also having a sAir that keeps you floating like rocket lance. This combination makes them one of the best offstage weapons.

dLight > sLight > recovery > gc > dSig

A powerful position manipulation combo that incorporates a down signature after a series of attacks that put the opponent in a far up position. Difficult to perform and pretty niche, this combo can be used as an unexpected kill move.

dLight > sLight > nAir > gc > sSig

Incorporate a gravity cancel into a side signature after the standard gauntlets combo to perform a powerful killing move with little chance to escape. Mix and match it with other combos to deal with a grounded opponent.

dLight > sLight > gc > nSig

A variation of the beginning of the standard gauntlets combo that incorporates a neutral signature as a killing move, using the mentioned combo as a stunning method.
