Thatch stats

Thatch stats

Thatch is a high strength and speed legend, with decent dexterity and low defense. The stance that we are going to use is defense, because the decrease in speed doesn’t mean much and the defense will come in handy so that we can take a bit more hits with our stocks.

Basics of Brawlhalla combos

There are two types of attacks: light and signature

Light attack

Light attacks are used for approaching an enemy.

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.

Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Thatch Best Combos, Strings and Signature Moves

Thatch’s kit includes blasters which are not an easy weapon at all, and a sword which is definitely easier for newcomers.

Thatch’s blaster signature moves and special tactics

Blaster > sSig

Powerful, long-range, huge area covering move that is also fast. Use this with a slide or for ledge protecting. Finishes an opponent at 140%

Blaster > nSig

Powerful long-ranged two part sig. Covers the same area as the side sig, moves Thatch a bit backwards giving you a position advantage. To get the full power of the sig you should get both hits, the second hit is the one that kills. Second hit has  bigger range, you can use this to edge-guard even pair it with a slide. Launches opponents horizontally, finishes them at ~150%.

Blaster > dSig

Great but predictable move. Covers a large area, but the two cannonballs can’t hit close up, nor grounded opponents. Its only purpose is edge-guarding, not much else. But it’s really great at that. You should experiment in training to see what is the ideal cannonball positioning, but we have some examples that can get you started. Launches opponents diagonally downwards. Finishes an opponent at 110% if hit at the edge, if on stage ~190%.

Blue thatch

Use this variant to pop one cannonball at the edge, and one at the end of the stage so that you can also cover a low stage recovery.

D sig

Use this variant if you only want to cover the edge, both cannonballs will pop at the edge, covering it fully.

Do not be afraid to mix up some other sigs with these cannonballs, you can also use the blasters light attacks and spam them frantically to cover the edge fully.

Best Thatch blaster combos and strings

dLight > sLight

The most basic blaster combo. It is effective and great considering that the dLight is decently fast and the follow up sLight is easy to input. You can use this combo to follow-up into some dodge read strings. Possible up to 70%

dLight > sAir

This is a great combo and also a kill confirm. Use this combo when you hit a dLight near the end of the stage so that you can confirm a sAir kill. Possible up to 70%

sAir > nLight

Also a pretty good combo when you hit an opponent mid-air. But it doesn’t work at later percentages considering sAir is a kill option. Possible up to 40%

sAir > dLight > sLight

The best combo in blasters kit, considering it consists of three moves, meaning it does the most damage.

Also doesn’t work at later percentages because of the sAir. Possible up to 40%

dAir > gC > dLight > sAir

String that ends with a side-air, you can use it to kill opponents when near the end of the stage. Possible up to 140%.

dAir > gC > nLight > cD > Rec

This is also a string. You can use this one to kill opponents when you are in the middle of the stage because of the recovery. Possible up to 140%, because of the dAir.

dLight > sLight > sAir

A follow up after the true combo. Good for racking up damage. Possible up to 70%

dLight > sSig

For a sig string it has a really low dodge window of 4, but keep in mind it's still dodgeable. Does great damage. Possible up to 40%

Thatch’s sword signature moves and special tactics

Sword > sSig

Two part sig. Powerful but weaker than the blaster signatures. Covers a good amount of area ahead of Thatch and is fast. Second hit has amazing knockback. Launches opponents horizontally. Finishes an opponent at ~150%. if near the edge.

Sword > nSig

The sword Nsig is a large area covering move, with the strong power of the seven seas. While it does somewhat pack a punch, it has medium speed. You can use it for edge-guarding or pair it with a slide. You can also predict some dodges with it if you use it with a gravity-cancel.  Doesn’t hit inside the enemy, so you will have to go a bit behind your foe. Launches opponents diagonally upwards. Finishes an opponent at ~150%

Sword > dSig

Spin, two part sig. Does good damage but kills later. Pair it with a slide, or edge-guard. Launches opponents diagonally upwards. Finishes an opponent at ~160%.

Best Thatch sword combos and strings

dLight > Rec

Classic. Deals the most damage out of all the true combos. Kill confirm at 160%. Use this when side-air won't kill. Possible at all percentages.

dLight > sAir

If hit at the edge, enemies sent all the way to the blast zone, meaning you get an advantageous position. That is the sAir variant advantage over the Rec.

Possible at all percentages

sLight > nLight

Most used string, it racks up solid damage. Smaller dodge window than the dLight version. Possible at all percentages

sLight > dLight

This is also a string. You can use it if you want to follow up into a true combo kill after the dLight, or for racking up damage. We recommend using this one at higher percentages to get a kill confirm because of the 2 additional dodge windows. Possible at all percentages.

dAir > nLight

This string you can use after you land a dAir and keeping in mind that nLight lasts long if your opponent neutral dodges, you will still hit them. And that is a powerful string starter.

Possible up to 90%, after use nSig because nLight leads better into strings at earlier %.

Thatch has a relatively fast sig kit, you should use it to your advantage.

Fast sig

Blasters edge-guarding game is insane, you can spam every single light attack and one will hit. Combine this with Thatch’s sigs and it’s a dream come true.

Edge guard

Both of his weapon’s recoveries are pretty good and give you huge height, they are also very powerful and are killing machines. But they do have a huge punish window if you whiff. So be careful.
