Best Barraza combos, strings and tips in Brawlhalla

Barraza, The Diesel Heart, The Lord of The Waste is an axe and blaster wielding master.

His unique sigs can throw enemies into the opposite direction, fire them at rapid speeds and much more.

Barraza stats

Barraza is a high-powered and defensive legend, but not all is perfect considering he has a low speed and dexterity stat. We are using the speed stance on him, considering the decrease on his defense stat isn’t that much of a problem. If we were going to use the dexterity boost however, he would get a decrease in speed, which would be pretty bad.

Basics of Brawlhalla combos

There are two types of attacks: light and signature

Light attacks are used for: approaching an enemy

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.

Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Barraza Best Combos, Strings and Signature Moves

Barraza has a kit including blasters, which are not an easy weapon at all. Axe is more forgiving but there are other legends out there with an easier kit.

Barraza’s blaster signature moves and special tactics

Blaster > sSig

A high-powered long-ranged sig, with decent start speed. It also has two parts, which means it can catch opponents off guard. The second hit is the killing blow, but if you don’t hit the first hit the move becomes undeniably weaker, both in the damage and knockback spectrum. You can pair it with a slide and get great range and also edge-guard with it, but if you miss both hits, you are doomed. The sig send’s opponents horizontally. The first hit kills at ~130%, but the second hit alone kills at ~150%.

Blaster > dSig

Also a high-powered move but with less range. This one also has two parts, but you have to hit the first one if you want the second one to come out, so it’s technically a one part sig. You can also pair it with a slide and edge-guard with it, also has relatively the same speed as the side-sig. The sig send’s opponents vertically. Finishes an opponent at ~140%.

Blaster > nSig

Also has good power, but you have to hit all three shots if you want to kill at earlier percentages. It also doesn’t cover that large area, but it is relatively fast. It is a three part sig but you have to hit one of the two starting sigs if you want to hit the third one. The third shot is the strongest and is the only one that gives knockback. Also the last sig on its own doesn’t deal much damage. Finishes an opponent at ~140% if all hits are connected.

Best Barraza blaster combos and strings.

dLight > sLight

The most basic blaster combo. It is effective and great considering that the dLight is decently fast and the follow up sLight is easy to input. You can use this combo to follow-up into some dodge read strings. Possible up to

dLight > sAir

This is a great combo and also a kill confirm. Use this combo when you hit a dLight near the end of the stage so that you can confirm a sAir kill. Possible up to

sAir > nLight

Also a pretty good combo when you hit an opponent mid-air. But it doesn’t work at later percentages considering sAir is a kill option.

sAir > dLight > sLight

The best combo in blasters kit, considering it consists of three moves, meaning it does the most damage.

Also doesn’t work at later percentages because of the sAir.

dAir > gC > dLight > sAir

This is a string. Considering it ends with a side-air you can use to kill opponents when you are near the end of the stage. You can use this combo when you hit an airborne opponent with a dAir, or you can also use it against on stage opponents. Possible up to 140%

dAir > gC > nLight > cD > Rec

This is also a string. You can use this one to kill opponents when you are in the middle of the stage because of the recovery. Possible up to 140%, because of the dAir.

Barraza’s axe signature moves and special tactics.

Axe > sSig

Long-ranged and powerful signature. Also relatively fast and covers a large area. One problem is that it can’t hit close opponents. You can use it as a surprise attack, or for mixing up a recovery getting back on stage with a gravity cancel. Launches opponents horizontally. Finishes an opponent at ~130%

Axe > nSig

Also long-ranged and powerful. Covers a decent area above Barraza, and if you hit an enemy it sends them in the opposite direction. Because of the back throw, you can use it to counter your opponents edge-guard, but be careful because with a gravity cancel, the move can be quite slow and predictable and you also lose your momentum. It launches opponents horizontally, so you also have to get near the edge of the stage if you want to kill opponents earlier. Finishes an opponent at ~130%

Axe > dSig

This sig is a bit weaker than the other ones in Barraza’s axe kit. It deals the most damage but has the least knockback. You can use it to catch opponents off-guard when they are charging at you, considering that the moves Barraza backwards a bit, which can also aid you with a slight position advantage. You can also use it for edge-guarding when the opponent is going low. Launches opponents horizontally, and finishes them at ~140%.

sLight > dLight

The most simple combo in axe’s kit. Solid combo. You can hit it as far away as you want, but at later percentages (after 50%) you have to hit the sLight closer. Possible up to ~180%

sLight > nAir

The bread & butter of axe combos. Also very simple. Deals more damage than the dLight version, but not by much (around 3% more). You also have to hit the sLight closer the higher your opponent's percentage is (if you want to hit it true.)  Possible up to 110%

dAir > dLight

[adairdlight.mp4]

This is a string. It is possible up to around 170%, but after 140% you will have to dash to hit the follow-up dLight. The only reason to use this string is if your opponent is above 100%, at which point you cannot follow up with a sLight or an nLight (which leads into a bigger string, while you cannot follow up with a dLight).

dAir > nLight

This is also a string. It is possible up to 50%, but can only lead up into other attacks at 0% to 30%. The only reason you should use this one at very early percentages instead of the dLight one is because it leads up to a bigger string, dealing more damage and is also a bit faster with a 3 frame lower dodge window than the sLight version. You should use the sLight version after 40%.

sLight > nAir > sAir

The best string in axe’s kit. It is used for finishing off opponents or racking up damage. Possible up to ~180%

nLight > cD > sLight

Also a very useful string, as it can lead up into other strings. Possible up to ~70%

Barraza is definitely a unique legend, with his semi quick and strong sigs he is a great pick if you know how to wield blasters. Do not be fooled though, with every legend in the game you need to put the time and effort into mastering them. All you need now is a guide like mine to get you started.

Barraza Tips and Tricks

Blasters are great for edge-guarding, you can spam every light attack and you should be able to hit your opponent when he is trying to get back on stage from the ledge. If he tries to go high, you have your air options.

Axe’s recovery is heavy hitting and solid ranged attack, but in the meantime is a pretty slow move, be careful when to use it. Also you can try to hit your enemy with it when you are recovering, but don’t make it the main focus when you are using it, because if you whiff it, it’s game over. Same goes for the ground-pound if you miss it, you can also use it for some strings, but it’s also slow.
