Discover the best combos and strings for Ragnir and learn how to really take advantage of His Katars and Axe.
Ragnir the Dragon prowled the fangwild forest as the apex predator. Now the forest is under assault by evil forces, and Ragnir journeyed to Valhalla to find Ember and restore the balance. He enjoys the occasional battle in the Everlasting tournament, where he is regarded as a strong fighter thanks to his nimble but brutal fighting style using an Axe and a pair of Katars.

Ragnir stats and best stance
Ragnir stats are fairly balanced and are average except for dexterity and defense, both standing at 6. The Axe is especially aided by these stats, as a high strength and dexterity permits a low recovery time and high damaging attacks.
Ragnir special tactics
Neutral game
The Axe has damage heavy playstyle, and can easily move around opponents thanks to the heavy force of the weapons. Play around the recovery or the side air for killing potential, and use neutral light and the side light to prepare the enemy for signatures or short combos.
Your main objective during the neutral game should be to throw the enemy away from the stage, and the Katars are perfect for achieving that. Dodge read the enemy or start a short Katars combo to juggle the enemy in a more favorable position using the side air or the side light and follow up with a neutral or down air to move the opponent around. Consider using the ground pound as the mobility is almost unparalleled.
Offstage Game
Ragnir has a powerful offstage, mostly due to his set of weapons. Play around the side air of the Katars to juggle enemies around and reverse your position with the opponent to gain a considerable advantage.
The Axe can be used as a more forceful approach, using the recovery to force your way through and throwing away enemies careless enough to get close. The side air of the Axe is a valuable killing tool and will blast away opponents easily. Use it to deal with close enemies or to chase an adversary.
Edgeguarding
Dodge reading is extremely powerful when edgeguarding and the Katars are well suited for the job. Stand near the edge and catch a returning to stage player using either the side light or the neutral air, then follow up with a series of ground pounds and down airs for the killing blow.
The Axe ground pound and recovery are another set of tools that will lead to easy kills by catching the enemy, but do not shy away from diving to chase the opponent and controlling the walls of the map.

Axe nSig
Ragnir breathes a stream of fire above him in an arcing motion. If an enemy is hit he will then proceed to strike with his Axe from below. Useful in edgeguarding situations or when dealing with a floaty opponent.
Axe sSig
Ragnir slams his Axe on the ground with great force. This signature will hit enemies with a powerful arching motion and it’s one of his strongest signatures and a main killing tool. Very useful in both the air, when used with a gravity cancel, or during edgeguarding. Bread and butter signature that fits well when used suddenly.
Axe dSig
Ragnir fires a stream of horizontal fire. Analogously to the neutral signature, if an opponent is hit he will then strike with his Axe, throwing the enemy horizontally. Useful when dealing with grounded opponents or in niche offstage situations. One of his weakest signatures, avoid unless absolutely sure that it will connect.
Katars nSig
Ragnir jumps while breathing fire upwards. If an enemy is hit he will then proceed to slash it with his Katars, throwing the opponent downwards. Great signature when used in edgeguarding situations, can also be useful when dealing with floaty opponents.
Katars sSig
Ragnir launches himself horizontally, smashing through and hitting every opponent in his path. Bread and butter Katars signature, use it on grounded enemies or in niche edgeguarding situations after a gravity cancel.
Katars dSig
Ragnir shoots a powerful diagonal downward burst of fire that will send flying away every opponent in its path. One of the best Ragnir signatures, this attack is incredible in edgeguarding situations when used against a downward approaching enemy.
Best Ragnir Katars combos and strings
The Katars is a fast weapon with great aerial control and important gimping capabilities. The range is short and they possess quite a few attacks that are effective when used very close to the enemy.
nLight > nSig
Put the enemy in place for a neutral signature using the neutral light of the weapon. Fast and easy to do this short combo can guarantee some kills on low health enemies.
nLight > dLight > gc > nSig
A variation of the first combo that will do more damage and put the enemy in a higher position before the signature. Useful to avoid throwing the enemy against the ground, as the throwing angle is wider, or to move the enemy in position for an offstage throw.
sLight > nLight > dLight > gc > dSig
Incorporate the down signature into the standard katar combo to throw an enemy offstage with great force. Very useful as a killing move, a dodge read to start it might be needed.

Best Ragnir Axe combos and strings
The Axe is a great weapon with important aerial capabilities mostly due to the excellent recovery and sAirs of the weapon. It can be played offensively, searching for gimps and juggling opponents in the air with dAirs and nAirs.
dAir > nSig
Stun the enemy with a down air to put it in position for a powerful neutral signature. Useful as a killing move on low health enemies or to deal a bunch of damage. Must be started from the air.
sLight > nSig
Use the side light to position the enemy for a neutral signature, dealing damage or killing the opponent. Useful on grounded opponents mix and matched with base Axe combos.
dSig > edgeguarding
Since the down signature can be held to continue firing it’s a good tool for edgeguarding an enemy returning to stage.
