Sir Roland’s sword is not a complex weapon, while his lance is a bit on the tougher side. With our guide, you will be able to conquer the world of Valhalla with his two trusty weapons on the side.
Sir Roland stats

Sir Roland is a balanced legend with a major focus on defense, but at the cost of ignorance on every other stat. The stance that we are going to be using is speed, which is perfect because we increase the lowest stat whilst also lowering the biggest stat defense, which concludes that we are not losing that much because speed is crucial for combos and recovering.
Basics of Brawlhalla combos
There are two types of attacks: light and signature

Light attacks are used for approaching an enemy.

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.
Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Sir Roland’s sword signature moves and special tactics
Sword > sSig
A greatly ranged two part sig, with decent speed. Its high range and double hit make it a great signature that also kills decently. The first part of the sig is weaker, and it lands into the second one, but you do not need to hit the first part for the second one to come out. You can use it to trick your opponents or for reading your opponent. Launches opponents horizontally, finishes them at ~130%
Sword > nSig
A one part sig with extreme range, whilst also being faster than the sSig. Covers a huge area above Sir Roland, making it a great edge-guarding move that you can also use to catch mid-air opponents that are trying to land. You can also use it to finish a combo. Launches opponents diagonally upwards. However it is pretty weak in the killing spectrum, finishing opponents at ~170%, yikes!
Sword > dSig
Long ranged sig that comes out at decent speed. Sir Roland shoots out four laser-like lines that launch your opponent upwards. You can use it for edge guarding, pair it with a slide etc. This sig however is also pretty weak, just like the nSig. It finishes opponents at ~160%
Best Sir Roland sword combos and strings
dLight > sAir
Very popular string. Can be a kill option and is great for racking up damage. Use it if you are near the edge if you are trying to get a kill confirm, because that way it kills earlier than the Rec variant. That is the sAir’s advantage over the Rec.
Possible at all percentages
dLight > Rec
Classic. Deals the most damage out of all the true combos. Kill confirm at 160%. Use this when side-air won't kill (aka you aren’t near the edge of the stage). Possible at all percentages.
sLight > nLight
Most used string, it racks up solid damage. Smaller dodge window than the dLight version. Possible at all percentages.
dAir > gC > nLight
This string you can use after you land a dAir. This string is also great because of the nLight’s long duration, that allows you to still hit your opponent even if he neutral dodges whilst also being a powerful string starter.
Possible up to 90%, after use nSig because nLight leads better into strings at earlier %.
sLight > dLight
This is also a string. You can use it if you want to follow up into a true combo kill after the dLight, or for racking up damage. We recommend using this one at higher percentages to get a kill confirm because of the 2 additional dodge windows, compared to the nLight version. Possible at all percentages.

Sir Roland’s lance signature moves and special tactics
Lance > sSig
A decently powered two part sig. Covers a “tall” area above Sir Roland. Hitting both part’s is not crucial considering that the second stronger part comes out in both scenarios. The first part is weak so you shouldn’t worry too much about hitting it, but it does land into the other hit which does give it some use. You can use it for an unpredictable hit, edge-guarding or to finish a combo. Finishes opponents at ~150%
Lance > nSig
This is a great sig. Covers a large area around Sir Roland, whilst also being relatively fast. It also makes Sir Roland jump, which can help you with recovering. Implementing it into your gameplay is a must. You can use it for a recovery mixup( be careful however, because like every other gC sig, it kills your momentum), edgeguarding etc. It is best to hit it at the edge, because it launches opponents horizontally. Finishes an opponent at ~130%, if at edge.
Lance > dSig
The strongest move in Sir’s lance kit. Kills early, is fast and has enormous range. You can also use it if your opponent is recovering low, on stage for a sneaky hit, or to finish off a combo. Launches opponents horizontally, finishes them at ~120%
Sir Roland’s lance combos and strings
sAir > dLight
Solid combo considering landed side air doesn’t have any other true follow-ups except this one.Racks up damage and leads into many other strings. Possible up to 30%
sLight > dAir
Great true combo for racking up damage. It also leads up to some other dodge reading strings. Possible at any percent because of the side-light’s fixed knockback (the same knockback no matter what percent).
nAir > Rec
This is a string. Good for catching opponents jumps and also is a kill confirm, whilst also racking up great damage, one of many nAir combo options. Possible up to ~250%.
sLight > sSig
This is also a string. Racks up great damage and is a kill confirm. Do not be afraid to use it if your opponent diagonally upwards, if your opponent however dodges upwards or neutral, you should use the nSig.
sLight > dLight
This is a string.. Racks up great damage and is also used in a lot of situations, You should remember that mixing up your combos and strings is critical. Also has the side lights fixed knockback.

Sir Roland is a fast lance and sword knight who is not afraid to show off his skills. Use his sigs and weapons to successfully conquer the world of Valhalla! Do not be fooled though, with every legend in the game you need to put the time and effort into mastering them. All you need now is a guide like mine to get you started.
Sir Roland Tips and Tricks
Rocket lance’s recovery is easily punishable considering that you have to charge it if you want to gain the extra height so be careful when to use it and how long to hold it, you can also use it as a kill option.
The sword’s recovery is much more simple, but it also is a kill option. Sword’s combo kit is rather simple and you can easily get some cheeky damage with it. The lance is more complex but it does offer a fair bit more option with its zero to death’s. Sir Roland’s sig’s are great for edge guarding, and you can also mix it up with some of his light attacks, and you will surely upgrade your edge-guard game!
