Best Gnash combos, strings and tips in Brawlhalla

Gnash, The First Real Man is a spear and hammer-wielding master.

Gnash Stats

1

Gnash is a legend that has high strength and speed stats, while his defense is okay and dexterity low. So every attack must count with Gnash. The stance that we will be using is Strength, as the difference between 3 and 4 dexterity isn’t that noticeable and the speed isn’t that needed. The killing power will come in handy.

Basics of Brawlhalla combos

There are two types of attacks: light and signature

2

Light attacks are used for approaching an enemy.

3

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.

Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Gnash Best Combos, Strings and Signature Moves

Gnash’s kit includes a spear and hammer, both weapons which are easy to pick up and learn.

Gnash’s spear signature moves and special tactics

Spear guide:

Spear > nSig

Gnash flicks his Spear upwards, following up with his leg doing a 360 kick. His manly Roarr makes this all stronger. Simple sig, good area of coverage, and not slow. Powerful also, this will kill earlier as Gnash has an 8-strength stat with the strength stance. If the opponent’s dodge is down, in the air this move will surely surprise them. Finishes an opponent at 150 percent.

Spear > sSig

Gnash dashes forward, charging through with his spear. Good and fast sig. Simple ( like his whole kit) and easy to use. Finishes an opponent at 140 percent.

Spear > dSig

Gnash dashes backward, lumping his spear upside down. Fast, and has a small area of coverage. Maybe a bit harder to use than his other two sigs. Finishes an opponent at 140 percent.

Best Gnash spear combos and strings

sLight > dLight

This is one of the most simple spear combo-string. It can also follow up on some more complicated reads. It has a dodge window of 2 frames or more, depending on how fast you can do a follow-up dLight. Possible at all percentages

dLight > sAir

This is a combo. Good for racking up damage and is also a kill confirm. You can also use it as a follow-up for the previous combo. It is relatively easy to input, but positioning is key. Possible at all percentages.

sAir > nLight

Great combo after an aerial hit. It racks up damage and gives you good positioning. After the 80%, the combo is no longer doable so you will have to do dodge reads, preferably with the sLight instead of the nLight considering the sLight can lead to more strings.

dLight > nAir

Another follow-up option after dLight, however, it is not true. It doesn’t kill like sAir, but it does hit neutral dodges, so it is a good option if your opponent keeps neutral dodging. Use this variation to continue the string because the sAir gives too much knockback.

dLight > gC > nSig

Great for racking up damage and you can also use it to read neutral dodges if you do it a little bit late. Also, a great kill confirm considering it kills at 130% if you hit it. Possible at all percentages as well so it is a great string.

sLight > dLight > gC > dLight > sAir

Longest string on our list. After the sAir you will get an advantageous position over your opponent, they will have to recover to get back into the ring. You can mix up the dLight with nLight or the sAir with nAir, Rec to get a kill finish, etc. Lots of variations, be sure to experiment in-game not every string is compatible with every scenario.

Gnash’s hammer signature moves and special tactics

Hammer guide:

Hammer > sSig

Gnash’s sigs are a lot more interesting with the hammer. Gnash charges a powerful sling uppercut move, which in turn catapults enemies right to the blast zone. It kills at an exceptional 120%. Wow. Amazing kill move. Okay area of coverage, is not slow and can be paired up with moves such as dLight

Hammer > nSig

The neutral signature. Wow. Congrats to the devs, this is such a well-rounded signature considering that Gnash is one of the earliest released legends. Gnash jumps, landing a powerful lion punch knocking down enemies off the ground or directly to the blast zone. This should be used for edge-guarding but it's not really perfect. To get the full effectiveness of this signature, try to hit your opponent and make them NOT bounce back off the edge so it kills earlier. Finishes an opponent at 130%

Hammer > dSig

Gnash does a Hulk smash to the ground, making a mini stone-covered wall and knocking enemies right up. Good area of coverage, can be hit from farther away, not exceptionally fast though but it’s really powerful. Like all of his signatures. One read you can do is sLight > dSig if the enemy neutral dodges. Really good kill-finishing move. Finishes an opponent at 140%.

Best Gnash hammer combos and strings

dLight > sLight

The easiest combo in hammer’s kit. While it is simple it still racks up good damage and can lead into other strings, for example, you can use the cD nLight after, which can then lead into another sLight and then into some other moves. Possible up to 80%

dLight > sAir

A great true kill confirm, but a hard one to land. You can use it after 80% when the sLight doesn’t land anymore to rack up more damage. The only downside to this combo is that it is relatively hard to hit and has a dodge window of 1. If you however practice it or master it you will be able to hit it true, but don’t worry because even with a bit higher dodge window you will be able to hit it in a real match at higher percentages. Possible up to 80-400% but only true at ~140%.

sAir > nLight

This is also a relatively hard combo because it has a very specific hit spot. It is a good option however after mid-air hit. Even if you don’t hit it true, you can still go for the nLight. Only true up to 20% but after that, you can use cD sLight to do a follow-up string instead of the nLight.

dLight > sSig

A great sig string considering that it can read your enemy's side dodge with it, and can be used as a kill option. Kills at ~130%. It is possible to get 3 dodge frame window on this, but you must get closer to your opponent for the dLight.

dLight > cD > nSig

You can use this sig string when your enemy dodges upwards, but you will have to use gC nSig. Kills at ~130%. Useful as if you read their dodge, essentially there is nothing they can do. Outplayed.

nLight > cD > sLight

Great string that racks up damage. You can also bait out a side dodge with it. Possible up to 70%.
