Best Attacking Killjoy Lineups

Attacking A Site Killjoy lineups

A Main to Generator

Get in this corner in A Main, after you have taken the ultimate orb. Aim between these two pieces of glass and left click. This Killjoy Nanoswarm grenade will land right behind Generator and clear the entire area, meaning you can focus on other areas of the site.

A Main to Green Box

If a Sova Recon Bolt or your Duelist Agent has tagged someone, you can use this lineup to clear the green box on the site. Get in the same corner, aim a bit higher than the white tip of this and left-click a grenade. This Nanoswarm lineup lands perfectly behind the green box and forces them to either swing to the side and get shot or fall back under A Rafters and give up the site.

Default Post Plant from A Lobby

Get out in the A Lobby after the spike has been planted and place yourself in the corner next to the green box. Aim a bit over the top of this glass, but you should try to guide yourself with the fingers and the Nanoswarms' buttons. This lineup lands perfectly on the default plant spot and stops any defuses around the Generator.

Attacking B Site Killjoy lineups

B Main to Market

This is one of the highest value Killjoy lineups on this map. When entering through B Main your team should smoke off Market, but defenders love spamming through the smoke towards B Main.

Line yourself up with this line and aim for this corner. The spot where the curved window and the steel bar cross each other is your place to fire. This lineup forces them further back, so they can't even peek through the smoke.

B Main to Defender Spawn

A modified version of the previous lineup is this one, and with these two, you can clear the most common crossfire spots on this site.

If there are defenders in any other spots, they might get one, but will get traded instantly. Line yourself up with the same wall and get close to it.

Aim just below this window and left click. This grenade lands perfectly backside towards Defender Spawn, and they can't push to help their teammate.

Combined with smokes, these two lineups clear the site and secure a plant 90% of the time.

Default Post Plant from B Lobby

After you have planted the spike, usually you don't want to play on site for the defense. A lot of utility can hurt you when you are stacked up in B Backside, so you should play with post plants.

Go back to B Lobby, get in this corner and aim for the top of this. Left click and this grenade will land on the default plant spot. If you have an Odin and you can get on top of the box in B Main and spam this position as well.

Best Defending/Retake Killjoy Lineups

Defending A Site Killjoy lineups

A Site Default Setup

You all know that A Site on this map is spacious, making it challenging to get value out of Killjoy’s utility, but this setup solves the problem. The enemy team pushing out of A Main or A Link will have to navigate through smokes or crossfire.

The position of this Turret is strategic because it can't be seen unless enemies fully commit to entering the site, and they can only shoot it when they are exposed in the open. Place your Nanoswarm grenades strategically and put the Alarm bot in a position to monitor the entire open area.

If any of your utility is triggered, or you hear the spike being planted, you can detonate your grenades for significant AOE damage.

You should position yourself under A Rafters, ready to pick off low-health enemy players with the assistance of your teammates. This setup ensures you can control the site effectively while staying relatively safe.

A Catwalk Setup

Attackers can slowly approach from Catwalk and might destroy your first grenade, but this action will alert you to their position.

If they opt to rush through A Link, the Alarm Bot and the Turret placed inside the site will detect them promptly. In this scenario, activating the two Nanoswarm grenades you've set up will inflict significant damage on the attackers.

This strategy ensures that even if your initial grenade is taken out, you still have a robust defensive setup ready to deal with the push, providing both information and damage to deter or weaken the enemy advance.

Defending B Site Killjoy lineups

B Anti Jett Setup

This setup is a bit harder, but hey, if you queued into Ascent, you'll probably be playing against Jett, so knowing this one is crucial:

  • Place your Alarm Bot in the alley to monitor any quick movements or flanks.
  • Deploy two Nanoswarm grenades around the switch area. These grenades are strategically placed to activate and damage Jett if she attempts to dash into the site, covering common landing spots.
  • Position your Turret in the corner next to Logs. This placement ensures that either your Alarm Bot or Turret will detect an enemy's entry if you don't catch the sound of Jett's dash.

This setup is effective at countering aggressive Jett players who rely on their dash to gain a positional advantage. By using your utility wisely, you can prevent Jett from easily breaking through B Main and disrupt her usual play pattern.

B Back Setup

And here we have another hard setup. Understanding that players above Silver rank are aware of potential lineups from Killjoy or Cypher at B Main entrance, they often preemptively destroy utility with Raze's Grenades or Sova's Shock Blasts.

This setup focuses on a more covert approach, positioning your utility to surprise attackers who anticipate clearing your gadgets early.

  • Nanoswarm Grenade 1: Strategically place one grenade by right-clicking in a spot that isn't immediately visible to those clearing from B Main. This unexpected placement can catch attackers off guard.
  • Nanoswarm Grenade 2: Position it below the top brick ends with a right-click. This placement ensures the grenade affects both ground level and elevated attackers, maximizing potential damage.
  • Turret: Set it on top of a specific box, chosen for its vantage point. This allows the Turret and Alarm Bot to trigger simultaneously, providing both early warning and immediate pressure on the attackers.
  • Alarm Bot: Place it a bit deeper into the site. This positioning ensures it triggers only when attackers commit to pushing onto the site, making it less likely to be destroyed preemptively.

Best Ultimate Spots for Killjoy

Best Bomb Spot A Site for Killjoy

A Main Offensive Lockdown Setup

Placing Killjoy’s ultimate effectively on A site can be challenging due to the site's open spaces and numerous hiding spots for defenders. However, finding a safe spot for the ultimate that maximizes its impact while minimizing the risk of it being destroyed before activation is key.

This suggested placement for Killjoy's Lockdown device might not cover every nook, especially the corners of A Rafters and the area directly beneath them, but it significantly disrupts the defenders' ability to contest the site directly. It forces defenders out of their hiding spots, making them vulnerable to your team's advance and creating a safer environment for planting the Spike. Moreover, this strategic placement allows you to utilize your Nanoswarm grenades and Turret for post-plant defense effectively.

A Garden Lockdown Retake

This Lockdown lineup covers nearly the entire site, except for A Wine. However, to address this blind spot, a specific Nanoswarm grenade lineup is available that targets A Wine directly, ensuring no area is left unchecked.

To execute this lineup:

  1. Align yourself with a specific line on the wall that serves as your starting point.
  2. Aim for a distinct leaf that is sticking out, which will be your visual cue for where to place your crosshair.
  3. Use the unscoped version of aiming to maintain broader situational awareness, and rely on Killjoy’s ability indicators for precision.
  4. Upon activation, the Nanoswarm grenade will cover A Wine completely, flushing out defenders and pushing them towards A Lobby.

Best Bomb Spot B Site for Killjoy

B Main Lockdown Setup

Clearing B site and securing easy eliminations can be efficiently achieved with a strategic use of Killjoy's ultimate followed by a precise lineup for her Nanoswarm grenade. Here’s how to execute this powerful strategy:

  1. Place your ultimate ability in a specific corner of B Main. This location for the Lockdown device is chosen for its ability to cover a vast area of the site, forcing defenders to either retreat or get detained.
  2. After activating the ultimate, run back to the entrance of B Main and position yourself in a designated corner that serves as the starting point for your Nanoswarm grenade lineup.
  3. Aim for the top of the middle bar on the window. This specific aiming point is crucial for ensuring the grenade lands precisely on the stairs leading to Defender spawn.
  4. Execute the lineup by throwing the Nanoswarm grenade according to the aim point. This grenade will land perfectly to either catch retreating enemies or to control their movement, complementing the pressure applied by your team’s push onto the site.

B Retake Lockdown Setup

Before activating the ultimate, ensure that B Main, Defender Spawn, and Mid Market are cleared or under your team's control. This preparation prevents the attackers from easily destroying the Lockdown device from common angles and positions.

Position yourself a bit to the left of the Switch on B site and take a step back. This specific placement is strategic; it minimizes the chances of the Lockdown being shot from B Back (the back of B site), a common place for attackers to hide or watch for retake attempts.

This placement forces attackers to move out into the open if they wish to avoid being detained by the Lockdown, making them vulnerable to being picked off by your team. So yeah, it not only disrupts the attackers' post-plant setup but also provides a significant advantage for your team during the retake. Honestly, this one is my favorite, and when you start practicing lineups, don't forget to include this one.
